Some new information from russian magazine editor *SPOILERS*.

I'm really surprised to see some of you guys surprised how the character select screen is fully unlocked as a default. Dont forget that Ed Boon is aiming for a tournament scene with this game. As a guy that likes to watch tournaments on streams every other day, I would hate to wait and watch as they try and unlock all characters just to prep up for the tournament. Waste of time for everyone; tournament players and at home viewers.

There is Cyber Subs, but I assume he would be fairly easy to unlock, or you could just bring a console that already had him.

I'm guessing a quick arcade play through will unlock them similarly to how MvC3 was(or quick idle at training mode). In fact, MvC3 had 4 characters to unlock for full roster. Two in my opinion is good, I'm glad Boon kept it like that.

With our luck, we might even get a button sequence unlock. As we all know, Boon loves codes and secrets.

Kratos for sure will not be allowed in tournaments since he is a character system exclusive. We'll see how the tournaments handle CSZ and Quan Chi. But to be honest, I dont see why they will not be allowed.

I know for a fact that these two won't be in the Krypt. Boon was big on having a bunch of secrets in the game, and it's been strongly implied by him that if there were babalities and friendships in the game, you'd have to figure out the input for them rather than simply unlocking them in the Krypt. As for the mini-games, Boon confirmed that there won't be any in the game. The closest we'll get to mini-games are the "Test Your ____ " modes.

I think these will be in the game through a special sequence (Like in the demo, if you go to stage select and press start on a stage instead of X, Shao Kahn will laugh and you'll get the classic BGM for the stage). But it's more likely that you'd be able to unlock them in the Krypt first and then do that special sequence.

Everything else you listed, they have a chance to be in the Krypt but I highly doubt it.

I agree with you.

Imagine if Mortal Kombat Deception was tourney worthy. There were so many unlockable characters in that game, tournaments would have to restrict you to a very few amount of characters compared to the full roster.

Just stop being lazy and unlock CZS and Quan-Chi.

If Deception was tournament-worthy it would have all or at least most of the characters unlocked from the start. But it wasn't, it was an "at-home" figher so they locked characters to give people something to work at.

so does this mean the reviewer completed challenge tower and confirmed the costume as the reward or did he unlock it another way?

i just can't beleive that this is the prize or the only prize for completing the last challenge in the tower.

Why Quan Chi and Cyber Sub? Kratos I get, but the other two are playable across both consoles.

I REALLY hope Mileena's Flesh Pit costume isn't the reward for completing the entire tower, it'd absolutely suck for like the 95% of players that aren't Mileena mains. Just wouldn't make any sense to have something that character-specific be a reward, or to deny Mileena one of her alts/give her more than other characters.
 
Csz and qc will be playable at huge tournament establishments such as Evo. $100 on it. Someone bet me.

I hope the krypt unlocks an option, in the options menu, probably, that swaps the songs for the classic songs. I hardly ever play vs, and I'd like to listen to the classic songs on arcade, story mode and challenge tower.
 
The part about the "disgusting" Shao Kahn second fatality really makes you wonder, is the reviewer talking about the fatality that was leaked in the australian MK banning report, or another one? If it's not the already leaked one, i wonder what could possibly considered disgusting after all we've seen in the MK franchise and other video games troughout the years.
 
Kintaro's teleport is hard to evade? Oh man. I'm not looking forward to challenge 300. I can't wait to see Kahn's disgusting fatality! Only two more weeks!
 
With X-ray attacks now in the mix, and his teleport hard to evade, Kintaro is going to be one tough bastard to beat, especially on the End Game Challenge Tower mission and Arcade Mode on the higher difficulties. He will be just as hard as he was in MK2; maybe even harder, if bosses are immune to X-Rays (yet they can perform X-Rays on you). And I'm going to love every second of it.
