So tell me what you think?

I think you have too much time on your hands.

And I'm pretty sure Midway is making just as much money with MK vs. DCU, so your point is "OMG its not violent enough~!!" at best.

see my responce in the Shoutbox.....

waste of time. Stop posting there. If not, dont link us there. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes and listen to Linkin Park all day. O.o

I think it sounds like whining. Pitiful whining. The T rating was used so the kiddies could play as their favorite comic book heroes (or villains, as the case may be) without needing a parent at the counter when they pick it up. It was used to appeal to a wider fan-base, as there simply aren't enough adult comic book fans who are also gamers who would like to play an MK fighter.

There was a reason, one that dicks us out of a violent fighter, but hey that's life. And one more reason I want to see some fresh eyes on the franchise.

I thought we established months ago that gore doesn't make a game? Fair enough, it didn't feel like an MK game, but it was still a really good game. I still say it's the best current-gen fighter. SFIV was too much like it's ancestors, SCIV got very boring very quickly and VF5/DOA4 are both arse. In my opinion that is.

Is there really anything new to say here? I can't imagine. You can choose to accept MK vs. DC for what it is (more than likely a one-time deal that we'll not see again anytime soon) or you can choose not to, but this just seems like crying over spilled milk. You call it a horrible game, yet your rant is purely based around the lack of violence. I really don't know what your intentions are with this thread.

Don't think so? I thought the juggle-based fighting system made it feel very much like an MK game. Granted I never picked anyone on the DC side, but I felt as though the MK characters played more or less like they were supposed to.

MK vs. DCU is NOT better than SFIV.

If MK vs. DCU doesn't feel like an MK game, that's because it isn't a purely MK game; it's a collaboration aimed to appeal comic book fans and the not-so-hardcore/nutty MK fans.

It's good for what it is, and I liked some of the new moves (particularly Sub-Zero dropping an ice block and Liu Kang's flip kick), but certainly low on my list of MK/MK-related games.

Kotaku just reported this morning that Warner Bros is looking to acquire Midway which means a sequel to MK vs DC is a possibility. http://kotaku.com/5201804/three-companies-eye-midway-for-buy-out

I always thought MK was always about more then just the ultraviolence. Great gameplay, great characters, great settings etc so the toned down MK wasn't too jarring for me. Plus I would like to see Martian Manhunter or even Plastic Man as playable in a future installment if they do a sequel.

That's why I said in my opinion. I can understand that a lot of people might feel differently and respect that. I thought the same at first, but I've already stopped playing SFIV, whereas I keep going back to MKvsDCU.

When I say it doesn't feel like an MK game, I mean in tone, not gameplay. The setting and the way the characters interact in he story mode, not to mention the fact that the DC story is actually better written than the MK one, make it feel a lot more like a DC game. It's very similar in tone to Justice League Heroes.

And Kotaku say a lot of things. A few weeks ago it was Activision about to buy Midway.

Well it's not just Kotaku this time. Joystiq and others (that I respect a tad more than Kotaku) have indicated 3 major contestants in the bid for Midway's future.

As for the whole SF/MK/SC debate. The only one I keep coming back to is SCIV. Once story mode is done, I just don't have much fun with MKvDC...plus my roomie doesn't play MK. He plays SFIV, but after mere minutes of that game I'd rather curl up and sleep than play more.

Every time I see this game I think, "God damn it, NO!" I haven't played it. Honestly, the DC universe REALLY turns me off unless it's Vertigo. Plus, I find it ridiculous to put Super-Man toe to toe with just about anyone. I mean, he's the man of steel. Not even Scorpion could take him out. To me, it just feels like someone trying to put ketchup in my ice cream. It's so wrong.

Tell me, is it WORTH playing even a little bit? Man, I might rent it someday, just to use Scorpion and beat everyone. I've yet to play MK Armageddon as well, so I'm pretty hesitant either way on it.

Scorpion is an amazing character in MKvDC. As I stated many months ago now, it was most certainly fun for a while. Story mode was really entertaining (especially the Joker bits). The only reason I didn't play it more was because there was nothing more to do. I don't play games for the competitive side of things, I play them to experience them and unlock and collect things. MKDA/D appealed to me because of the krypt and costumes etc.

This game has nothing that will keep you coming back. But you'll probably enjoy playing it for one weekend. Give it a rental, or a pity purchase.
