Could be a dummy/placeholder but it looks pretty detailed, what do you guys think ?

There's Smoke emitted from the body once it's lifted and "torched" by Kotal. If you take away the background and throw it against a black background, I'm sure you'd see more smoke than seen on the actual gameplay gif.

Color me wrong, though...I'd love to see Smoke back!

Edit: Isn't the same "character" seen in Ferra/Torr's variation for vicious or w/e? Can we get a gif of that?

I like Smoke and all but i just wish kharacters stayed dead this time around,it's okay to bring Sub-Zero back because Scorpion needs a rival but,coudn't they keep the other game's significance?If they just revive most people now it just seems pointless for Sindel to have gone on a killing spree back at MK9.Hope it's just Kotal's alt.

I thought that too, but it's at different times during the attack (When he picks up Torr and torches him then tosses him, vs the initial pick up of that other character.)

There's no way that's Smoke. Look how bulky and huge the character is. Almost the same size as Kotal.

Good find !, anyway I don´t think it is kotal kahn alt color, he doesn´t glow and that smoke effect is also suspicious, anyway it looks like a cyborg.

In that blurry little picture, he doesn't look as big as KK. It's the smoke trail that kind of deceives that.

I'd stay on the safe side and say it's basically a no-name or unfinished new character.

Actually, Smoke is more likely to come back to life than any of the MK9 characters that died. Assuming NRS wants him back.

dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! i hope he is back! after all you can't really kill a demon made of smoke. that human form was just to blend in. he is literally made of smoke. i doubt a snapping a neck made out of smoke would kill him.
