im pretty disappointed. I can share the same feeling with him as I do Mileena. her new "slut" look just doesnt fit and her alt costume is pure vintage and brings back the "now this is awesome" feeling.
so with that said, i dont care, im 100% sure he will have his retro ninja costume added, and get a robo version.

I feel exactly the same.
I think that each character is getting 3 or 4 alts... but I don't know for sure. As I said above, agreeing with Reaper, I'll wait to see him in action, but if it looks to ridiculous, I'll just use his klassic costume.
Initially I didn't like the hair, but I've gotten used to it. The only thing I don't like is the grey. If it actually is "hair" then it makes him look old. I'm hoping for it to be smoke/steam/fog. Fingers crossed.
I don't think trying to get the idea as DLC is stupid at all, but I just want to tell you this. Don't get your hopes to high, that way if it doesn't happen you don't get let down. I tried drawing what I thought Smoke would look like before all the leaks came out, but I suck as an artist. In my opinion, new designs are always welcome. So long as you aren't the type of person to throw a tantrum if someone says they don't like your idea.

yeah man we always like to see fan art. I'm not gonna make it my mission to get it in the game but I'd still like to see it.
Something like this or like Wraith's Avatar are the coolest fan versions I have seen so far.
This is not my drawing by the way its my favorites though!
I'm not a big fan of either design...Wraith's avatar reminds me of a weird looking Reptile...and this pic above looks too much like it could be Noob, and I'm tryin to avoid that. The trick is, making his design appear to have a dark mysterious side, without actually making him overly dark physically like that............by the way, I'm a member of deviant art, and I've checked out your artwork before, ya do a pretty good job, keep it up

they did an awful job with some select screen images.. once I saw his VS image I felt a lot better about him. I still don't like his hair being there, not so much because of the style now after the VS image but more because I am used to and love the covered hair ninjas. still waiting for a video with gameplay though, I might change my mind on that too. other than that, he looks great and original. his retro costume is pretty much what we saw in subzero and scorpion but in grey so the other costume I'd want for him is the MKA one after you selected that red thing and did some trick and got human smoke. plain and simple and better than the retro one

For me, that's OK. I'm pretty sure his hair will look better in the gameplay .... see ? All characters, when we see his pictures, and next, his/her gameplay, the character looks better, more dynamic, more "alive" .... I like Smoke having hair, because it's a personal feature he has now to differ him from any other ninja, and, based in his leaked bio and ending, this feature fits perfectly about who Smoke is now, inside MK story timeline ....
Ninjas with hair is not new stuff, lots of old fight games / action games have one ..... NRS opts for using hair to make Smoke have a feature easy to make people remember him, in a visually way, since his costume is almost black and dark grey, despite being well done , with nice metal plates, is not a Smoke's characteristic so memorable .... his hair, so, works as the easiest way to identify him, and, fits him better, much much better, than Raiden's MK movie white hair ....
His hair looks floating in the pictures , because maybe in game, will have animation every time Smoke does a special move, or maybe , to :

based on the character selection screen he looks bad, but when I looked at the vs. pose he doesn't look that bad - I guess I am going to have to wait till the game comes out to give a full judge on his costume. I am sure his alt will be good/better

hey it just hit me, what if in gameplay Smoke doesn't have that long hair but short (some said it's spiky and shorter I think) and the rest is a smoke effect? I was just watching some videos of Frost in MKA and she was like that with an ice effect so.. yeah. also, you should check out his new Spain pic over at spoilerville, he looks really good

I for one, have learned to like Smoke's look. Its like a modern version of his old costume. Either way, we haven't seen him in action yet. Once I see him in gameplay footage, then I'll form my opinion.
The chances of you getting your design as DLC are really low, but good luck to you either way. . .

Personally, I think smoke should get a whole new facial structure and hairdo.
Black hair, very pale skin, hair shorter? Maybe not... but I don't like that it's up, smokey or not. If they wanted a smokey effect they should have just made it fall slower than other peoples' hair.
The suit itself looks perfectly fine to me. Though I think he looks a bit thin to what I imagined him as (from what I've seen.)
For anyone who has spoiled the versus render of him for themselves... Am I the only one irked by the whole "I just got my nails did" thing..? If you know what I'm referring to. On top of being irked, it also worries me that I may not like his fighting style.
