Shao Kahn should NOT come back!!

If Scorpion is made a boss the MK Universe can be made hell.You know if some awesome moves and stronger weapons are added he will dominate everyone.
 
I don't know what to make of the game's primary star being a boss. I'd imagine him being unplayable will be detrimental to game sales.

Which is awkward because I hate Scorpion. Of all the characters, they pick Mr. "My-life-revolves-around-revenge" as a mascot?
 
LOL, loving the Scorpion hate on this page of the thread.

TBH though, making him a boss would be a serious WTF move.
 
Scorpion would never be a boss. Not unless he was upgraded hardcore in some way.

Also, NRS likes to "fap" to Scorpion because he is their most famous and well liked character. Scorpion was missing from one game and everyone's heads spun like Regan MacNeil.

That can also be said for Sub-Zero.
I'm willing to bet that there would be just as much of a shit-storm if Sub-Zero doesn't return for MK10, if not worse.
The 3 MUST HAVE characters for ANY MK game are Sub-Zero, Scorpion & Raiden.
The rest of the roster is replaceable, minus those 3.

The difference is that Scorpion always gets the upper-hand because he's the mascot and MOST IMPORTANTLY Ed Boon's personal favorite.
THAT'S the reason why NRS faps to Scorpion.

They could easily get away with not having Raiden in an MK game.

They already did actually...MK3 and UMK3. And it was punishment for Carlos Pesina, his actor at the time, participating in another company's fighting game (nevermind the fact that said game never got released). The fact that Carlos still kept his job despite the incident is proof that he has learned his lesson. As for Raiden, there is a 0% chance of him ever missing another game. He is way too important to the story to sit him...especially since the good guys are practically screwed without him.

THIS, THIS, THIS, THIS!!!

The main reason that Raiden (Carlos Pesina) wasn't in MK3 and UMK3 was due to issues between Midway and the Pesina brothers (Daniel and Carlos), at the time, NOT due to lack of importance.
That same issue is why Daniel Pesina didn't reprise his role as masked Sub-Zero in MK3, why Scorpion was missing in MK3, and why NRS went with John Turk (aka unmasked Sub-Zero) instead.
In Ultimate MK3, it was John Turk who put on the Ultimate MK3 "ninja" costumes for Scorpion, Masked Sub-Zero, Reptile, Ermac, Rain, Noob Saibot and Human Smoke.

As for Raiden not being in the next MK game or a future MK game, I just don't see it, considering that the MK9 Story Mode was essentially the story of Raiden and his visions / amulet / preventing Armageddon, featuring everyone else.

Wow, that sounds really immature on paper. Carlos wants to play with someone else for a little bit and they lock him out of the series for it.

He was employed by Midway at the time and was busted for participating in another company's game. I'm pretty sure Carlos had an exclusivity clause somewhere.

And no, they didn't lock him out of the whole series. They just suspended him for one game. He was given a second chance (otherwise Mokap would never have been made as a tribute to him). It's all water under the bridge.

Agreed.

This is pretty common knowledge in the entertainment industry.
Most studios and / or facilities, if you work as a video editor, audio engineer, graphic designer, rigger, mocap artist or in any other part of the development team, make you sign a clause before you get hired saying that you work for them exclusively.
Voiding the work clause could have serious ramifications.
He's lucky that he didn't get Black Listed.
 
Carlos got fired because he DRESSED UP LIKE JOHNNY CAGE to promote the rival game Bloodstorm. You guys all missed that one important point ;)

Raiden has clearly been the main guy for Earthrealm for the last two games, MK vs. DC and MK9, it's clear that NRS has no plans of leaving him out a future MK game.
