Shao Kahn should NOT come back!!

Motaro's death sucked too. Dude didn't even have any dialogue. That honestly scares me. Because I think of all of the characters Post MK3 that will have stupid quick deaths because NRS is too lazy to reinvent them.

Ugh... Every time I think about Mk9 Motaro, I cringe. An amazing character... Reduced to a small painful cameo.

Ohnonono, it's gonna be even worse. They'll be retconned out of existence, because the nostalgia blind fans that somehow think that the trilogy characters had more depth and complexity than a piece of wood would be upset if they came back. And you know how desperately NRealm tries to please their fans

Really? You all hate Shao Khan that much? Don't you remember the gold old days of the arcades when you dumped in $10 worth of quarters trying to get to the end boss only to face that azzhole Kintaro or Motaro first... it was a pain in the butt, but honestly those were the good old days! Much better boss then any Street Fighter boss was!... and... I think he's not that bad but yes... they do need another NEW boss...

:P

At least Shao Kahn has some personality to him... it's almost funny when he beats you so bad and then taunts you.

But I like that he's not just an overwhelmingly large ball of fire like so many bosses in fighting games seem to be for the past decade.

I don't want to see this character come back for a while. I thought he was a really great villain, but he's had too many moments in the sun, I think it's better off that we see a new threat. And seeing how Shinnok is obviously the next threat, I'd like to see him actually BE a threat rather than what he was during his debut.

The lackluster fallen Elder God that really had nothing for him at all. You made two appearances, (Mythologies) and neither of them made you worthy enough for me to actually appreciate that this is the next real threat. I mean, in my opinion, god-like characters to me are always supposed to feel threat-worthy. I want to be intimidated, I want to understand that the world or whatever is being taken over is being taken over. With Shinnok, I didn't felt that, and it's a shame. So, let's see this guy get created in a way where I can be like, "holy crap, I'm a bit afraid of this dude," and be like that.

Yeah.

Here is how the bosses (who should die forever or for a long time canonically) should go in this new timeline of MK...

MK9: Shao Kahn

MK10: Shinnok

MK11: Onaga

Motaro's death was due to the fact that NRS needed a way to explain why they couldn't animate a four-legged centaur for MK9.
Plain and simple.

ALL of the character deaths in MK9 (MINUS Nightwolf and Sindel's deaths) were VERY pointless, and done with terrible writing.

Bottom Line, Shinnok is a poor excuse for a villain. I'd much rather have Onaga.

Shinnok threatened the Realms before Onaga did. And besides, if he was that lame of a villain, then why was he the only one among the major villains to be banished to the Netherrealm by the Elder Gods themselves?

He didn't have to die so early.
He could have easily had speaking parts in the story mode.

Agreed.
Who knows, maybe by not giving him speaking parts NRS didn't have to worry about fans becoming too attached to the character and having to include him.

I too wish that Motaro was more prominent in MK9, and would have loved to have seen him in the rotation between Kintaro and Goro, as a sub-boss.

How do you figure? He's a fallen Elder God. He was banished to the Netherrealm for crying out loud. Maybe the MK team didn't do as much with him as they should... be he is still a HUGE villain in the series and has the potential to be incredible.

I think Mzuark meant to say boss.

MK4 was a terrible first impression for Shinnok (I know he was in Mythologies first, but many fans first met him in 4). He didn't have any unique attacks, he didn't look menacing whatsoever, he was selectable from the start which took away from his intimidation factor, and he didn't even look like final boss material. There was nothing menacing or regal about him. He looked like a goth German douche.

He did have some of the best fatalities in the game, and Armageddon did give him some sweet ass specials, but I still can't see the guy throwing a punch.

I see what Mzuark is saying, but you can't just base future concepts based on previous garbage, though.
Kenshi got a 180° revamp in MK9.

If we're basing the future character concepts on old ones, then the majority of the post-MK3 roster can go to hell.
Since that's not the case, though, it's best to keep an open mind about these things, and hope for more Kenshi-like revamps.

Hell, Shinnok looked pretty damn menacing at the end of MK9, and was a BIG IMPROVEMENT from his shitty MK4 iteration.
I'd love to see Shinnok be a more powerful boss, and let Kahn sit it out for a while.

That's why Shinnok should be created a bit carefully so that we CAN respect him for once and not just think he's a lame excuse for a villain. I never cared for him back during the fourth game. I thought he was a cheap Shang Tsung imitation. Armageddon kinda made me like him, just a widdle bit. But not by much.

If he's gonna be the threat we have to be terrified about, then execute it right. That's all I have to say. I'll ignore his previous appearances and rightfully appreciate the character if he's the kind of villain I'm hoping to see for the next game.
