Shang Tsung Vignette

Loved it. Also love how Shang Tsung could only transform into his opponent this time around. In the past MKs its understandable that he transformed into everyone because it'd just change his special moves, but now that each character is A TON more unique there is bound to be counter-picking by the boat load. Having Shang-Tsung become someone that has the playstyle advantage over the opponent AND still change his game on a whim by being Shang Tsung would make Shang too strong a character. Balancing was definitely a factor when they made this decision.

I'd never main him, but since he only transforms into your opponent's character I might learn him a little just to embarrass people who use a character that I know how to play as too.

No.
While I like the fatality, I could see what the "slice point" commentors would want.

A fatality that has more to it than just a decapitation or limb slice.


Something like:
- Shang Tsung's MK II Fatality where your soul is sucked out and the body looks rotten
- Scorpion's Toasty Fatality where the skin is burned off, and all that's left is bones
- Sheeva's skin rip fatality, where you cam see the muscle tissue.




Go to the 1:34 part is the video, where Sub-Zero's face is burned off by the lava



I would LOVE to see Scorpion's Toasty have that same effect to it when he burns you, in MK 9
 
Yea you make a good point. I just wasn't sure what you guys wanted but now I know and knowing is half the battle.
 
Fatality looks awsome. Gameplay wise he defiantly going to use those projectiles to his advantage. Secondary alt. looks decent.

You just know it's true. It's another unoriginal fatality that's been done before with a very slight modification and it's a slice-point. I was hoping to see a fatality like a soul steal and turn their body into a wrinkly greenish grey mess, not just a decapitation.

I'll be playing as the old version though, I love the "old master" fighters in fighting games.
 
Lets just all agree that there are alot negative people in the world and nothing will ever be good enough for them, and that there alot of postive people in the world and everything is good enough for them. Then there are the neutrals who see both points but could careless about them! :)

I hope so, too. The "Toasty!" effect is more like in UMK3 where the skeleton crumbles in a pile of charred bone.
 
I still think that the more gruesome fatalities are the ones that we have to unlock, which is why I believe that Scorpion's 2nd fatality could have just been a placeholder for someone else.
Maybe the 2nd (or 3rd for Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile) unlockable fatalities are the ones that they're saving for the game's release, due to ESRB ratings.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

I like the fatalities so far, and MK 9 is only 12 DAYS away.
Can't wait to unlock more fatalities, costumes and arenas in the next 12 days.

I think what you fail to realize is that they're not going to start off by showing you his cool fatalities that involve stealing souls and the like. They just want to give you a taste.
