I think that is Shang Tsung as well but am not sure if you will be playing him at that age. I do hope that they allow you to play Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat II.

He's been sitting there ever since the first trailer came out. The real question is whether he is playable.

i think it's almost a given Shang Tsung will be playable but personally i'd like a new boss for the seies

I'd like to see Shang Tsung get younger, as the "Story Mode" progresses.

In the MK 1 timeframe, he would be the older version, from the original game.
In the MK II timeframe, he would be the middle-aged version (as in MK II), probably from consuming more souls.
In the MK 3 timeframe, he would be the 30-ish version with long hair (as in MK3).

As for a playable character on the roster, he should just have his MK 3 look.

The other thing that I think NetherRealm should incorporate, is making sure that Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung are absent from their seats, when they are fighting in their perspective arenas (Kahn's arena and Shang Tsung's Throne Room).

huh...what if some characters have multiple versions in the game they are probably going to be costumes but what if u have the shadowy noob and then u have the sub zero noob or what if u have the old shang and then u have the younger shang it would be pretty cool if all of them had different move sets

how come when i posted this it got blocked,,oh well, id prefer MK1 shang tsung he looks more sorcerer/wizard looking. the MK2 version looked like somebody from the circus.. innyhoo if they cant make him morph on todays platform then Xbox and PS3 are not doing their job, and if they cant make him morph hes not worth putting in the game as a playable charactor in my opinion

The other question is : will Quan-Shi (as he is mentioned in the Scorpion's bio) be playable ?

Quan CHI. And go look at my post in that thread for the video. I'm about to declare war on anyone considering this to be a possibility.

Ed Boon himself, has said in an interview that the "vast majority of characters" from MK 1 thru MK 3 would be in.
Meaning that it could easily be 95% to 97% of the MK 1 - 3 characters (possibly minus the 2nd Smoke and 2nd Sub Zero).

That would leave 2 roster slots open.
One of which COULD be for someone else, like Quan Chi.

It isn't totally out of the question.

Show me where he said that. Until you find that video, I'll hold firm to him saying something more along the lines of "We'll be focusing on the characters from the first three games."

You all are making up this possibility for some reason I'm not sure.

I wouldn't care if Quan Chi is in the game, I just wish you all would quit putting words in the developers mouths and just actually listen to what they're saying instead of hearing what you wanna hear.

I'm hoping they leave out the post UMK 3 characters, that's were things went down hill in my opinion, both in terms of character design, and story-line. This is the perfect chance to wipe the board clean, and try to recapture the original feeling of MK. I wouldn't totally mind new characters, but from what they've been producing lately, its probably best to just focus on the originals.

Yes I confirm Boon's statement about focusing on the cast of the first 3 MK. I hope they'll have different outfits though. We get to play Tsung as old & young, subby masked & unmasked, etc... It would be great to have old Shang Tsung, imagine how pissed your enemies will be when beaten by an old granpa.

There's your proof.

From Ed Boon himself.
"a "vast majority of the characters" will be from those 3 games."

Ed Boon never said that ALL the characters would be in MK 9, in the first place.
He said that "if you have a favorite character from that era, they SHOULD be in the game."
He never said that they WILL be in the game.

He absolutely does not say anything about there being from any other game than the first three. He says "I don't think you can assume all of them are going to be in." then he says what you're saying.

I mean there's 27 character's from MK1 to MKT. We've already got one Sub-Zero, don't need the other, that knocks it down from 27 to 26 and I'm pretty sure 26 could be considered a vast majority of 27.
