Scrubs

I've been playing MK on and off over the past week or so, got about 5 hours online all in all.

And those 5 hours have netted me a ridiculous amount of hatemail and ragequits, usually to the tune of "You spam you suck!".

Now don't misunderstand, I'm winning, pretty much everytime, so much so that I now know my fatalities off by heart ;-). Not because I'm amazing, all I've been doing is using Ermac to zone and land that easy 40% combo when I get the chance, while my opponents ignore the block button and mash uppercut or incredibly unsafe special moves.

Anyone else experienced this? I assume this is because the game is new and MK appeals to a broader market than say SF, but my god, it's laughable. One guy actually told me I was "Spamming a combo" and that I should play properly.

Well, I have mixed feelings about this. I do fight many spammers online, some use ermac, so if you are infact as they claim a spammer, This post makes me sad. But if you can actually do combos and you know what you are doing and not spamming, then keep at it brotha.

i hate spammers but i also admit my defeat when i lose against them. if i'm not able to win then they are good enough to be able to spam and still guard well. so a certain amount of skill they have . ^^

I'm good enough to get flawlessess Online, as Ermac, but I only really know one combo by heart. Well, two now.

Am I a Spammer?

It could be seen as spamming at certain points, yes, but as long as you're mixing it up, so you don't become predictable (cuz doing the same combo over and over is just setting yourself up for pain) it isn't spamming. Just being tactile.

who the hell cares if you are doing the same move over and over, if you win.. you win.

What's scrubbier? winning by "spamming, or losing from someone "spamming"

I only rage quit if it's really laggy, otherwise I don't care.

People are going to complain about something when they lose. One guy said I block too much, another said I play cheap, another that I spam my fan toss, etc, etc.

Just play your game and let haters hate.

Spammer is one of the funniest things someone could call you in a fighting game.
People really have to take a step back and see what fighting games are. If you want to win, put your "honor" aside and play to win. If you see someone is having a hard time versus something... then use that something a million times until you win. Easy as that.

And yea I totally know what you mean. People online are sooooooo embarrassingly bad that most of the time its not even enjoyable winning. The scrubs still don't understand the concept of blocking and unsafe moves.
"You're just waiting until you block my teleport and then juggling me!!!! You suck" .... really? lol. *I* suck because I'm punishing you properly for random teleports? Hopefully in a few months the ratio of good players to scrubs is at least 40-60.

"Spamming" exists. It's when someone keeps doing the same move over and over again.

"Cheap" doesn't exist. That's the scrub excuse for sucking at the game and not knowing how to respond.

This. I don't even consider myself that good but I find that I'm able to beat most of the players with minimal effort. Part of the issue seems to be their inability to adapt. A lot of players seem to have one strategy, and once you've solved it they just die.

And the decent players that I do run into tend not to stick around for very long once they lose a match or two.

Its hard to spam in this game, because almost all special moves are highly punishable......so if you lose to a spammer then, you need to check yourself

I just played this guy in a Ranked Match... We both picked Scorpion, and legit all he did was use the spear- coincidentally, he never once stuck me. So, I basically flameport behind him, triple punch him, grab, throw, demonfire, spear, triple punch, takedown, low kick, and repeat. After two rounds of getting smacked, he sends me a message and says that I "only use one move".

Lol.

Lol I like watching scrubs on the tv

I second that. I had a rage quitter the other day who sent me one of the most hilarious messages ever. He basically just used every profane word you could think of and combined it into calling me a spammer.

So yes I've ran into the same problem and I'm sure it won't go away. Let them get mad and be sore losers.

I'm not great, and I also have the game on PS3 so no online right now. I had some friends over yesterday and we put the game in. One found that if he just kept using Kitana's fan throw and square he could beat the other two. I didn't use one special and beat him.

Moral of the story, if someone is a spammer, there are methods to get around it. When I get online though, I'm probably going to find much more skilled opponents then my buddies from class.

This.

I'll never understand this "you won by spamming so you have no skill" argument. What does it say about your skill if I'm able to beat you with only one move?

Improve your defense, learn to block, and learn to counter.
