Out of all the male ninjas, Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile are the 3 most popular, as is evident by only those 3 characters getting klassic DLC fatalities in MK9 to go along with their MK1 costumes.


That said, with the high probability of the Original 7 making the cut, that leaves 5 spots (if the final main roster is 24) for returning and post-MK3 characters.
His chances don't seem so good, considering that Fujin is a must for this game, and Quan Chi will also play a role in it, cutting that number down to 3 remaining spots.
If the number is closer to MK9's main roster, as Boon and Beran have suggested (28 main roster characters), then that leaves 7 more spots for returning and post-MK3 characters.
 
If the original 7 are going to be in then the next 5 characters will be

Cyrax
Sektor
Mileena
Kabal
Jax

Those have got to be the last 5 characters

Well, if that's his race, then people probably are seeing it as a nationality.
We do say English, Spanish, Mexican, American, French, Italian, etc, etc, etc with capital letters.

You're forgetting characters like Fujin, Havik, Tanya, Reiko and Quan Chi (who could possibly play some role in MKX) as well as the other post-MK3 characters.
I could see Kabal and Jax sitting out for MKX or being DLC, and some of the post-MK3 characters being on the main roster.
 
Something tells me we will get more than 12 returning characters ..Boon says lots of stuff that that they change later.

Maybe they where aiming for 12 new characters but I think we will get 7 or 8. Remember how we where supposed to have tons of dlc for mk9 lmao.

Or it could be 14 or 15 new characters, for all we know.
Ed said that MKX would have more new characters than any previous MK game, which is 11+.
 
Well shinnok willbe in but he doesn't count as returning .when ed boon says "returning characters I think he means mk9 guys.

As far as the number of new guys..I iusr don't think 11 or 12 brand new characters will make it in.t would be nice but I don't think so.

Ed never said that returning means MK9 alone.
Unless told otherwise "returning" also means from any of the previous MK1 thru MK:A games.
Returning just means coming back, and post-MK3 characters will likely come back to MKX.
 
Kitana is the only dead MK9 character that has a chance to reappear due to her popularity, otherwise I'd say it's only Ermac, Reptile and of course Quan Chi that are likely to be playable alongside the assumed original 7. Plus there are Fujin, Shinnok, Havik and Sareena that have the biggest chance from post-MK3. This is 15 old characters in total and that's the MOST I'd expect (counting secret characters and DLC as well that don't appear in the 2x14 roster grid).

Sure, but unless otherwise specified, the generic "returning" phrase implies all MK characters in existence.

It's like saying _____________ music fans are terrible.
Unless I specify with which fans are terrible, it's automatically implied to be ALL.

Also, you don't think there will be ANY post-MK3 characters?
Ed Boon already said there would be an MK4 character.
 
Oh my GOD!!!who cares I just want some new info!!!!lol .

Did you guys hear the rumor about the 4th variation??Theres an article and Ed says it would be something that all character would have..more like a variation with no powers..just hand to hand Kombat.

Edit:he said that they aren't sure about it though.just a thought .


I'd like that idea though .
