Roster Speculation

I thought the same thing of Cassie Cage, at first (around E3), but she's been slowly growing on me.
At this point I hope that Sonya and Johnny die in the MKX story and she takes over for them in MK11.

Agree, the human characters are sooo bland and stale and the fact that there are like half a dozen now .....

Seriously, who would take Kang, Jax and Sonya over Sindel, Kabal and Noob, latter 3 likely to miss the roster.

I've been experiencing the same thing, maybe it's because I always thought Sonya as one of the lamest MK trilogy character and Johnny Cage as a generic character with no excuse for what he does, and the combination of these two plus some new things some way created a interesting one, like both of them were not good but together they make a whole, with a few retouches of course.

And besides, judging by Cassie and Raiden's intro, it seems we are getting a better explanation for the green energy powers.

Me too. I'm not a fan of Jacqui thus far in the comic either, but I have faith in NRS making her work. If not, then I'll complain then; now's not the time. You can bet I'd be mad salty over a boring Jacqui making it in over Erron Black.

Sonya, Jax and Liu kinda apply as well. I never liked them, but I also never liked Raiden, Kano and Kitana, all of whom look amazing in MKX, so I'm keeping an open mind.

Same here.
She, Johnny and Liu Kang will likely be in due to the reasons of "Herp derp. They're part of the Original 7," but yeah, I agree that her story has also been very stale (ever since MK4, for me).
Cage got stale around Deadly Alliance, for me.

I'm hoping that the MKX story has nothing to do with the old timeline, since Ed said that MKX would have an "original story," and I'm hoping that she gets more story improvement other than just "She's the daughter of Sonya and Johnny, and she survived a death match against Frost. Woo hoo." :roll:

But some players like those type of fighters, so they'll always be here. A good roster satisfies as many people as possible. Expecting it to be centered around one's particular tastes is a recipe for disappointment.

Man, I agree 100% with you. But if they are already 3 of them in the game, do we need a 4th one? That's my point. We need variety so everybody is happy (like you said)... I was making an argument about jacqui
 
I know it's a stretch and it's pretty ridiculous when you say it out loud. But I've noticed that the artist put REALLY heavy emphasis on Jacqui's legs in every panel she was in, like her legs were WAY more toned and defined than her arms, I could be just reading too far into nothing, but what if Jacqui gets her legs replaced with metal enhancements? It sounds stupid as hell, yeah but again, we've seen dumber ideas come to life before.

Different strokes for different folks. I don't necessarily like the really "sickdark" looking characters that may put a emphasize on magical powers. I kinda like the bigger build, physical fighters so I would probably gravitate towards a Jax than a Havik, or Quan Chi(Kabal baddass so he gets a pass but you get my point). Still, I do agree that designing new characters around past characters was could create a potential problem that could end up with nobody being happy, but I have faith in NRS and know they will deliver, well, at least for me.
 
Can't wait to play as JOHNNY Cage AGAIN!!! Since he's among the characters in MK with a most charisma!!Oh yea!!! These haters gonna keep hatin!!!

Jacqui looks fine to me. If she turns out to be quite tomboyish or more "masculine" (like Shina in Bloody Roar), I will love her forever. MK NEEDS human females that don't look like strippers.
 
I like Jacqui and I hope she doesn't die on the comics.

People can say Jax is boring, he wasn't one of my favorites, but I'm neutral towards him (except on MKII where he kicks my ass).

But Jacqui had something interesting I can't explain. She's a nice character, and she does good partnership with Cassie, who is cool and funny as hell.

I want to see both kicking butts on the game!
 
^ I'm enjoying CASSIE Cage a lot more than I ever did her father, and I haven't even played as her yet. She's wittier and sexier.

God, do I hate that word, but it really applies to my tastes in MK characters. :)

Most of my favorites fit that "sickdark" look: Mileena, Baraka, Reptile, Kabal, Ermac, Noob Saibot, Havik...
 
That's exactly my feeling.

I never cared to Johnny at all. There was a time I hated him, I said to myself "this is the fight, I won't lose to Cage".

I got more mad by losing to JC than losing to Scorpion as Sub-Zero or the contrary.

Time came, I started liking him more. And after MK9, where we fully saw how he is human, yet heroic (though a complete imbecile, what makes him funny), my opinions about him raised A LOT.

I really want to play with Cassie. She looks so fun to play.
 
Johnny and Sonya's chemistry in the story was pretty awesome ...I grew up loving the character .Looks like I'm going to main cassie since im a Johnny fan .

I still think 28 characters seems about right given how Ed Boon mention the roster being a similar size to MK9.
