Reptile makes me sad.

He used to be one of my favorite characters. He was the first hidden fighter in an MK game. I understand they wanted to change his looks to be more reptilian and give him his own race but I much prefer the human "ninja" version. Actually, I prefer that version of all the "ninja" characters. Even Ermac has changed quite a bit as well as Rain.

I don't think it's the fact that Ermac and Reptile no longer wear full face masks any longer, I think I just dislike how elaborate they have made these characters. Of course, this is all my opinion. I always used the MK1 2 or 3 outfits in MK9 with certain characters such as Ermac and Reptile.

Even in the story they make Reptile seem like a moron and a simpleton instead of feared. As for Rain... the whole veil he has going on his face... I can't take him seriously.
 
I like how all of those characters look in MKX. Reptile has looked bad in most games so I'm glad that he looks decent. His standing posture looks weird, and his "HYA HYA HYA" is like Link and can get annoying. but overall I like him.
 
Ermac is so much better post-palette swap years -- so much more distinctive and interesting as a character -- that I am already laughing at how goofy his klassic skin will be in this game.

No real opinion on Reptile. I did like having him take off his human face to be a scary reptile person, and having him be a scary reptile person all the time sort of gets rid of that. Still, it gives him a more unique feel as opposed to being just another ninja.

P.S. Rain's veil is awesome and you are wrong.
 
Don't agree about Rain, he retains a Ninja look while being unique.

I can agree about Ermac and Reptile tho, Ermac.. I just hate his damn face, I liked his look in MK9 way more.

Reptile I still can't stand, I'd rather him be more Ninja like, you don't want to play a Ninja character, then play someone else imo.

The biggest problem is his masks, giving him a better mask and getting rid of his beak face would help a lot.

Honestly I love Reptile as a character, but with the way he looks I will NEVER play as him. Would be nice to at least get a klassic skin for him again.
 
Ermac is leaps and bounds better than any previous incarnation. They went full Darth Wizard with him and I love it.

Reptile doesn't look so great, though. I hate that they keep trying to create a blend of human and reptilian design, because it just ends up looking half-assed. I say commit to one or the other.
 
Meh, he looks ok I guess, waiting for that Kraken skin.

As for what he did in story mode, they make him look weak, like he could be beaten by anyone, indeed kinda sad.

I think Reptile looks all right. Not fantastic, but not bad. What needs to change is the presence he has relative to the other characters. The guy needs to become a menace. He needs to be one of the scariest mofos in all of Outworld, and MK9 and MKX have both treated him like a replaceable lackey, one out of thousands. No playable character should ever feel replaceable.
 
At least Kraken Reptile gives you a slightly more amphibian appearance should you so wish for one. I quite like Reptile's default costumes, but I'd be happy to see other alternatives released as DLC, and if I like one I may buy it.

Don't forget that NRS did attempt a more reptilian look for him in Deadly Alliance, and it was ****ing horrible.
 
To me Reptile has the most significant role in the story that he has ever had. He seems to have a voice instead of being just an underling grunt type of character. I thought Reptile was always just that , a reptile. His human skin was just a disguise?? I personally don't like Reptile , but I'll have to say he's a beast in this game.
 
The days of the palette swap are gone. I'm thankful for it even though for a long time UMK3 Reptile was my favourite outfit. He only looked human due to technical limitations. He's reptilian, he should look that way. Besides everyone knows his identity now. There's no advantage to keeping it secret. Speaking of which I love the new mask. Overall I've never been more happy with how he looks.

Although look on the bright side. We may be getting classic palette swap ninja costumes. Its already happened with Sub Zero.

They made all the bad guys look weak.... Man that was the lamest part of story.. Sonya beating up scorpion and Quan Chi... What a joke.
 
I don't really take issue with him not being hidden in human flesh.

It's always his attires post MK3 that rub me the wrong way.

Something like this would get me playing Reptile again.

What aspects of MKX do you enjoy?
 
I really really liked the concept art for ermac in mkx, i don't know what the hell happened in the inbetween... But i don't like his overall look (thou i agree that it's far better than a ninja palette swap):

That concept is sick but the ingame model looks like crap by sheer comparison. Not wizard-y at all...


Same happened to me with Reptile, although i liked more the MK9 model than the recent one. I wish they could make a more human-like Reptile, maybe with the mask he had in the movie from the 90'! That mask was awesome sauce!

I loved Rain skin!
 
I'd be happy if they gave Ermac a mask.. I never imagined him as a zombie.. Sure , he's cool being skinnier than the other guys.. but now he's just dead looking.. I liked his MK9 alternate outfit the most , if they just slapped a mask onto the current skin he'd look soo much better..still a mystic wizard type but still iconic

Reptile will probably get a human skin later on..

Sub Zero is not trash. The dude has some good combos, his slide is dangerous as hell, and he can take a combo-machine opponent and neutralize them with the right timing.

Goro is also damn strong in the right hands.

Liu Kang is Liu Kang.

Johnny Cage is awesome.

Shinnok... has never been better than Shang Tsung. Then again, Shang Tsung was reduced to a joke last game and thus Shinnok is cooler.
