I haven't posted most of my fanfiction on this site, so I'm gonna bring them over. This is Part 1 of a 2(3?) part story based on my Mortal Kombat fanfiction series. Redemption is a story based around the Tenth Mortal Kombat Tournament and follows the brother of Lui Kang, Chan (aka Hornbuckle). After gaining a losing streak of 9, Earthrealm only has one final chance to defend itself in the Tenth Tournament. This Story is a new take on MK1, but it won't begin or end the same way.
Summary of The Events Before...
Compromise Full Story
Years Later, Outworld begins discussing their plans for Taking over Earthrealm. However, their discussion is interrupted by a girl who was younger than Kitana name Li Mei. Because her realm was defeated the day before in Mortal Kombat by the Locust Clan, they became part of Outworld and were forced to endure hard labor. She decided to challenge them for a rematch, to which Tanya recklessly accepts. However, Kitana decides to take her on instead and easily defeats her. Later that day, Kitana is chastised by Shao Kahn because she chose not to kill Li Mei. When Tanya attempts to lighten her mood when they hang out, Kitana scolds her and kicks her out of her room. Tanya secretly expresses her hatred for Kitana due to her mother Sindel being involved with her mother's death. She is overheard by an inner spirit that promises to teach her sorcery and also by Rain, who challenges her to a fight. She is almost killed, but gets saved by Jade, whom Rain was against killing. Days later, Tanya was greeted by Quan Chi, Ashrah, and Shinnok, who was revealed to be the "inner spirit."
During this time, Li Mei had a hard time adjusting to Outworld. She encounters two Locust Clan assassins who attempt to cause trouble at the place where her people resided. She defeats them in battle along with the help of Bo Rai Cho, who promises to help her. She refuses at first, until she was given a shady offer by Nitara. She decided to listen to Bo Rai Cho, who tasked her with retrieving Sindel's Vile. When she arrives to the location of Sindel's Vile, she encounters Mileena. She's easily overpowered by Mileena, but is saved by the arrival of Raskal, a native of Edenia. Mileena escapes and Li Mei befriends Raskal, realizing that not everyone from Outworld is a bad person.
After 6 Years, Kitana disappears, which causes panic in Outworld. Jade decides to take on the search for her and finds her at an abandoned area. However, it turned out to be Mileena, who hid Kitana at the same location as Sindel's vile. Jade seemingly kills Mileena and finds Kitana unharmed and without struggle. Kitana willingly went with Mileena because she already knew about her origins. She still held resentment for her mother, but she decides to get over it and returns to Shao Kahn's castle.
Rise of the Shirai Ryu Full Story
During this time, the Shamans were killed by Skarlet. The only remaining members were Nightwolf, who was currently taken by the Special Forces, and his younger sister, Knightwolf. Knightwolf was the only member to overpower Skarlet and apprehend her. She agrees to let Skarlet off if she helps her infiltrate the Special Forces building to rescue her Brother, Nightwolf. When they arrive, Sonya Blade reveals that Nightwolf had been released long ago. Skarlet used this chance to attack Knightwolf and throw her out of the window. However, they are interrupted by the Black Dragon Clan, who they kill off easily leaving only the strongest members alive (the named members we know excluding Tremor). They attempt to recruit the two, but the two decline. Skarlet reveals the real location of Nightwolf as well as information on an informant who knew more about the situation (that informant was Tremor, who was still a member of the Lin Kuei). Skarlet faces off against Tasia, but before she could kill her, she is interrupted by the SF and Sonya. The Black Dragon run away, and Skarlet faces off against Sonya. As she escapes to the forest after seemingly killing Sonya, she is encountered by Sonya, who injected her with Cancer cells to ultimately weaken and kill her. Knightwolf arrives to the portal to Seido and was met by Reptile and Shelia (whom was the new leader of the Shirai Ryu after its destruction). Darrius emerged from the portal and destroyed it, thus preventing anyone in the universe from entering and exiting Seido forever. Knightwolf is devastered and joins Shelia and Reptile to defeat Darrius.
Later, Knightwolf is brought to Outworld by Reptile and requests to get information on Tasia, Kabal, and Scorpion, to which Shao Kahn gives vague information on. (Note: I did not ever return to edit the timing inconsistencies of the story presented on fanfiction.net. So if you get confused by the timing, just take the time presented in this summary as the canon timing. Sorry for the inconvenience.). After 4 Years, Knightwolf is revealed to have joined the Shirai Ryu after her brother's death. In Earthrealm, Scorpion meets Chan, Kira, and Kobra, whom were looking for Johnny Cage. However, Scorpion didn't know Johnny and was only on the run from the Brotherhood of Shadows, Tasia, and Kabal. He decides to manipulate Kira, who was an avid fan of the Black Dragon, into leading Tasia and Kabal to a false location for where he was located. Tasia traveled to the bridge between Outworld and Earthrealm while Kabal went to the Outworld Armory where the encountered Knightwolf and Skarlet respectively. However, due to experimentation with Skarlet's blood, they gained powers that enabled them to easily overpower the two. Before they could both be killed, Kitana, Jade, and Tanya came to their rescue. Kitana hilariously defeats Tasia (Chapter 5. Trust its enjoyable, lol.) while Tanya and Jade critically wound Kabal. Knightwolf questions why Kitana continues to follow Shao Kahn even though she knows the truth, to which Kitana reveals that she still enjoyed him as a fatherly figure. Knightwolf enters the Portal to Earthrealm and is encountered by the other missing Shirai Ryu clan members from the first Brotherhood attack.
Two Years later, Earthrealm is threatened by Quan Chi, Ashrah, and Shinnok who secretly infiltrate Earthrealm in an attempt to take it over. However, the Shirai Ryu decide to deal with them immediately. Bi Han also joins the fight on the side of the Netherealm and fights against Scorpion, ultimately killing him. It is revealed to actually be Quan Chi with the other Quan Chi being an illusion. Shinnok's full physical presence finally enters Earthrealm and he takes on the challenge of fighting the Earthrealm warriors. Shelia, Knightwolf, and Skarlet ultimately killed Ashrah, mortally wounded Quan Chi, and separates Shinnok from his Amulet. Shelia is killed in the process. Raiden and Fujin arrive to take care of Shinnok while Skarlet and Knightwolf choose to escape.
Four more years pass, and Shinnok is finally presented his real amulet by Jataaka (as the other amulet was only a duplicate). The Lin Kuei recruits a new member who decides to take on the new codename, Frost. She along with Sub-Zero are tasked with fighting at the tenth Mortal Kombat tournament with Sektor, Cyrax, and Hydro overseeing their mission. Knightwolf has one final talk with Skarlet, who reveals that she will die in a few years and that she will be taking on a normal life. Knightwolf decides that her mission in life isn't over and that she must see the tournament all the way through. She travels to Shang Tsungs Island and decides to wait there alone until everyone arrives.
And thus, we arrived to the Sunset Cruise!
