Rain looks awesome! I love the fact that they were able to incorporate his roundhouse kick into his set without it looking odd. And the first fatality shown was really badass. Lol, my guess for his x-ray was off, except for the pop-up close to him thing. Good job NRS! Looks like a definite buy for me.

Yes!
But think about Motaro, there is work to be done.

Motaro would be fine, as a NON-PLAYABLE boss character.
If they included him (AS A BOSS ONLY) in one of the compatibility packs, that would be cool.

I'd love to see Motaro change places every so often with Kintaro and Goro, in the Arcade Ladder.
Other than that, HELL NO!!!

Motaro would be great indeed (centaur version).. I doubt we'll get to see it though :/ if we do get Motaro, we'll probably get him with two feet, a centaur version is probably off the table (for the time being, anyway)

4legged Motaro, boss only (and the option to play bosses offline :) )

I saw one ex and one regular waterball... the ex one (at :42) floated the opponent over rain's head and the regular one (1:16) traveled him across the screen. I dont know if thats the difference between the two. Maybe one is just armored or takes meter away.

I also saw a regular and ex water up kick. The regular (:41) pops the enemy back and the ex (:47) seems to go higher with anti-air properties.

I saw a standard water blast (:53) with no ex

The ex roundhouse (1:03) looked like it is possibly a parry but the normal roundhouse (1:14) was clearly used as a part of the combo

The ex teleport (:33 & 1:07)... didnt see a standard teleport

Triple lightning (:46) single (1:15)

The water ball may be similar to UMK3 or MKT. Rains waterball after throwing it out in those games you could position it. Im thinking thats the case and the EX version may stun or damage or just lengthen the duration of the waterball.

still can't get over how great he is. is it normal I've watched this video like 30-35 times so far? :P btw, when he enters the fight he only makes one sound but his mask moves as if he actually says something.. do you guys think it's possible for him to have an opening line? actually, for all three DLC chars so far. it makes no sense, they paid voice actors anyway, why not make ONE line for each?

I think the only way we'll see Rain clad in his MK3 costume is if they release an MK3 pack for the 6 disc-based male ninjas with Rain's as a 7th hidden incentive for purchasing to those who do have downloaded him.

Ok I saw the video deeply and I saw this:

Specials

Waterball [X = armor?]
Water blast
Water up kick
Roundhouse kick [X = armor?]
Water Teleport punch
Lightning [X = 3 lightnings]

Throw = Water teleport slam

From what I have observed of the video, Rain possesses:

Water Ball (the ex version of it just may extend the time that the enemy is in the ball)

Water Stream

Water Up Kick (ex version looks like it may teleport)

Water Laced Roundhouse (ex version gains hyper armor)

Lightning Blast (looks like the standard version pops up because he uses it to continue a juggle and the ex version hits three times)

His throw sees him hold the enemy in a belly-to-belly hold, he then rockets off of the screen with water pressure. He then plummets back into the screen in water form, leaving his opponent to crash into the ground skull first as he merely splashes and reforms away from the opponent. (My guess will be that his front or back throw probably determines where he reforms)

I like the concept of him forcing the water into his opponent for a fatality, but I would dislike his second fatality being similar to Quan Chi's second fatality, except he breaks the legs. I do think that the water blade looks cool.

I hope so.. those costumes were great. the downside is, at this point I don't see NRS doing justice to DLC characters :/ not design or gameplay wise, all 3 DLC chars so far are perfect. but when it comes to their entrance (which makes no sense, the voice actors are already paid) and alt costumes, DLC characters only get one costume and no entry line :/ maybe after the release of ??? they'll make a patch with 4 free costumes for each of them.. each DLC char should have a second brand new costume before receiving a retro one. fingers crossed :/

you know what the worst part of all is? that even with this overhaul that made him look and fight like THIS, there will STILL be people in the future who, if his not place in the roster of mk10 is not sure (god forbid :P)), will say I prefer him or her over Rain because he's a palette swap ninja and a joke from a prince song :P but I soooooooo don't care anymore, he looks AMAZING indeed :D

for Rain's 2nd fatality: I'm thinking there's gotta be more to it.

my reasoning as to why there is more to it: Scorpion originally had Quan chi's second then it got changed completely. I highly doubt they'll just give it to rain but instead of a sword he uses water. That would be too lame. (IMO) We'll just have to wait and see, or someone could tweet NRS and ask about it in hopes of getting a response.

I might get hate for this but...

I don't like his waterball move. Just doesn't fit in fights for me. It throws things off.

Other than that, I'm really impressed with his specials. Hopefully his move set is on par as well.
(That IMO is where they messed up Kenshi, he only really has 3 good moves in his moveset that people use)

He is really looking like he'll be getting his own identity in this game and hopefully even more so in MK10 when it arrives. Rain's shaping up to start tapping into some of the potential he's got stocked up.

PS - Nice avatar lol. Lovin' his win pose.

This isn't hate, for the record lol, just curiosity. What d'ya mean by that? Do you think it interrupts the flow of the fight or just that you don't really like the concept or what?

Omg! Rain looks awesome! Loved the Super Roundhouse and his classic moves, his UMK3 winning pose, gawd, everything !! Now I'm waiting for how his story will be.

Kinda both. It does interrupt the flow of battle.
I know it was one of his moves in the old games, but I don't think it fits here

I get what you mean for the waterball. after seeing this video for like 35 times so far though, I've grown to love it :P it's much better than the MKT one, it has cool water effects and it traps the opponent. could they come up with another water move? sure. but they focused more on his MKT move list plus added tons of water effects for most of them so.. it's all good as a final result. maybe if you get your hands on him, you'll change your mind ;)

oh yeah , his win pose is EPIC :D fingers crossed for him finally getting his identity and not being a joke even to those people anymore. NRS did a kickass job on all characters, gotta be fair
