PC version of Mortal Kombat 9...

I think this price is for the retail version which includes one of the movies and some other extras. The Steam version should be cheaper.

Probably we'll get a demo before the pre-ordering begins. It's strange they're quiet on the hardware requirements. I need to know if my PC is fast enough for this game, a demo would be nice.
i think any pc with dual core, gt 630 or ati 7770 and 2gb ram will run it at minimal options.

I think the Steam version will be $29.99 as well which is fine by me.

In dollars it's a good price but sadly Steam converts bucks to euros in a 1:1 ratio and 30 euros is not something that sounds too good, especially not if I compare it to the price of the console version of the Komplete Edition:

I think I'll buy it anyway if it's that much but I'll have a sour taste in my mouth for a while. :D

WB, just a message to you guys if anyone is reading this:

THIS is how a good PC announcement looks like:

I was forced to play it on xbox because they had not announced a pc version . And now almost 2 years later is coming also to pc! With the next gen of console being so similar to pc the only games that will not be coming to pc will be the microsoft and sony exculsive

if you look at the screenshots you don't see anything spectacular there.

Yes. But, unlike better looking games, MK is supposed to run @ solid 60 frames/sec.

I haven't played High Voltage games, so I don't know what to expect. Acclaim made almost perfect ports of MK1-MK3. On the other hand, Eurocom delivered MK4 - the worst port EVER! The game was bad to begin with, but the port was just abysmal. So, I''m hoping HV is more on the Acclaim side than the Eurocom one. If the game is good, I might buy a new video card just for it. A demo won't hurt.

EDIT: Actually, MK3 was ported by GT Interactive and Williams. It turns out I still have the CD-ROM, too bad it doesn't work anymore on my Windows 7 PC.

I think that price is not final, maybe a placeholder ?

Im pretty sure steam pre-order will include MKAK :)

It'd be nice if it was offered for $19.99 but I'm certain the $30 price tag is the right one.

That's because they made a highly stripped down version and slapped it blindly across all three platforms. Now it's different because they made it to the full standard that they wanted for all platforms and the PC is getting more or less the same not watered down version. Who knows what kind of improvements they may add on top of that. So it's kind of an opposite situation now... nobody is getting a stripped down version of an original arcade version. They are getting the original unadulterated version.

At least MK4 for PC had good controller support though. I played it with a home made MK arcade stick at the time.

What's interesting was the DOS version had better and more features than the Windows version in MK3. The Windows version I found out had bugs in the sound and less features and even some of the animations where stripped out. The DOS version was made especially for the PC and the Windows version was just a port of the PSX version. So for MK3 the DOS version was actually the best believe it or not.

Didn't even know there was a Win version of MK3, thought the DOS one was the only one there is.

And it was a kickass one on top of that. I soooo want the 9 man tourney mode to be reintroduced back in the new rendition - playing with 9 characters in one single round, each one of them jumping straight in the action after the previous one has exploded in flames = pure FUN. Makes up for an incredibly dynamic and visceral fight - by that time I used to play with my cousin, on the same keyboard of my first PC - 486DX 133 Mhz with 16 MB of RAM. The game used to require 8 MB only, so it was running perfectly, and my cousin got pretty good at it as well.

I actually managed to score 2 wins against him, out of all the countless games we played, with just 1 fighter, killing all his 9, and that was by the time he already had a firm grasp on the game. Both times were absolutely thrilling and I guess both times I had the fighter on a double "Danger" alert, but I made it, and it just left me breathless.

We didn't even use to play the regular 1v1 mode at all - the 9 man mode allows you to string a few fighters in one longer round, making it a lot more diverse and more balanced, since, even if you make some crucial mistakes with the first fighter, and he dies really quick, you still got more to go and the chance to re-emerge.

Main reason I haven't played MK3 in such a long time - I'm just 101 % hooked to that specific 9 man mode, and it is only present in the DOS version of the game. It ain't there in the MAME ROMs...

Man, I should totally whip up an oldschool machine with only DOS 6.22 installed on it, along with that classic MK3. Too bad my hands aren't that small now, and I can't see myself being able to play with somebody else on the same keyboard, and DOS just won't allow for flexibility in terms of hooking up a controller for the other person.

Though, I guess I could research it...
