I don't think Noob can be a cyborg since he isn't human anymore. But if Noob somehow posses a cyborg as a way to re-enter Earths realm I'd be ok with it.

I agree. We need to see a human smoke... And not the lame, as you call it "Cloud wearing a Mexican wrestler mask" (well done, btw. Perfect description).

If this game is going back to the beginning, I want to see human Smoke. That's the Smoke I was introduced to. That's the one I fell in love with.

Same with Ermac. I fell in love with the red ninja. Not the current look (which they're pretty much bringing back for this game).

You can say the same for Sub-Zero. Just a pallet swap of Scorpion.

That's a terrible argument and I loathe the people that use it.

Yes, he was a recolor of Scorpion. But it's the simple fact that he was a gray colored ninja. And then he was given a story. So naturally, many of us are going to wanna see the original look. A costume inspired by the gray ninja we were introduced to a long time ago.

Look at Rain in MK:Armageddon. He was originally a pallet swap. They turned him into a really cool looking character while staying true to the original idea.

Sorry, but this is not true at all. A lot of people are drawn to a game because of one or a few specific characters that they love so much. Think of games with a lot of guest characters from other series: Soul Calibur, Super Smash Bros., MvC etc. You can't deny that specific characters alone draw in at least a small portion of its fans. A game with such unique and interesting characters like Mortal Kombat easily has the same effect.

I see that i might have upset some people by saying the whole character thing in my post, my bad guys, i guess i was thinking out of my own perspective, that everyone loved the game for what it is first and foremost, and then characters next.

Well, I don't think you're entirely wrong. I don't think your all right, either.

I mean, look at Harry Potter. I like Snape. But everything else gives me a headache. I do watch the films though for Snape. So there's an example of a character luring someone into a game/movie/series without liking the overall experience.

Lets look at Mortal Kombat Armageddon. Love MK.... Love it a lot. But by the time MK:A rolls around, the characters are so ugly and boring to me that none of them really matter. But I still play it because it's Mortal Kombat. It's fun.... Despite how turned off I was by everyone.

if smoke is cyborg he will look like cyrax/sektor. he cant have the smoke around him because it will look like cyborg is overheating, which is silly.

I'd be pretty annoyed if Noob was chosen to become a cyborg, I'd like to hope the MK team has more respect for fans of his than to do that. I mean, don't get me wrong - I'm sure there are probably some folks who think a cybernetically enhanced nether-realm wraith would be badass, but to me it kinda undermines the appeal of him being a wraith. His power is esoteric; something dark and mysterious from the nether-realm that found a host with Sub-Zero's dichotomous soul.

I always liked the duality of his story; the idea that the elder sub-zero's comparitively evil actions made him suscebtible to the influence of the nether-realm and transformed him into something completely different to what he was in his mortal life. One of the few things I liked about the story line in Armageddon was how they expanded on Noob's character by giving him the ability to 'infect' other people with his darkness as he did with the Lin Kuei worriors Taven encountered. Plus the show-down in his ending with the freshly separated soul of Sub-Zero and whatever evil symbiotic thing "Noob Saibot" actually is... That was a cool idea.

Kinda reminds me of Venom from the Spiderman universe.

I just find it funny how people automatically assume that Older Sub Zero was killed, when the vignette NEVER mentioned which was the elder brother.
The vignette only mentioned their names.
Ed Boon DID say that this would be a retailing of MK 1 thru 3, with a twist to it.


No one knows for sure which Sub Zero this is, until we play through Story Mode.

Well that's true, but regardless of which Sub-Zero is playable in the game, I think there is still the potential for Noob Saibot to be involved. Besides, who says it must be Sub-Zero who becomes Noob? Maybe the nether-realm wraith could attach itself to another Kombatant and we have wraith Kahn or ...wraith Scorpion. Woah...

Exactly what is MK "first and foremost"? The characters and story have always had some sort of focus that their stories evolved from game to game, so the story portion seems like it's just as "first and foremost" as anything.

I seriously hope not. Noob is Sub-Zero. That's just how it is. I don't think I'd be able to support any other incarnation of him.

Yeah, I prefer that Noob is tied to the elder Sub-Zero. But I also like the idea that Noob Saibot can exist as an entity on its own (like in his Armageddon ending). Sub-Zero returned from the nether-realm as Noob Saibot and it seems possible for them to separate again (though his Armageddon ending would be non-canonical I guess, seeing as he didn't defeat Blaze apparently), so I sort of imagine Noob as being a mataphsycial parasite that attaches itself to susceptible souls, like the Venom symbiote.

If the team decides to spare Smoke from the automation just for him to die and become Noob, I'm gonna be super pissed.

MK first and foremost is obviously THE OVERALL GAME, AND STORY ITSELF. What i was trying to say is that i was thinking out of my own perspective on MK, which is the overall story and gameplay first, then characters second, which is why i found it weird when people were saying "I wont play or buy this game if this version of this character isnt in the game" but i guess its not weird, due to people's backlash at my comment.

I agree. No one should return as Noob other than the original Sub-Zero.

Saying that, I hope Noob isn't in this game. Or if he is, he's a secret character you have to work your ass off to unlock.

I miss the days when Noob was mysterious and no one knew what the **** was going on with him. I really hope they don't whore him out in this game.
And the thought of Smoke becoming Noob? Oh hell no.

I agree with everyone who says Noob has to be the original Sub Zero, in my opinion, when they revealed that in Deception, i was freaking amazed and was like oh wow this character has been brought to a whole entire level, so i hope they do involve him in the game. On top of that, we want to learn about him more, his identity as Older sub is till fresh to us, because its only been known for two games, they need to establish that story at little more.

And to everyone whos saying we dont know which brother was killed, it says on the MK site that after the elder was killed by scorpion, the younger took on the name of sub zero, so im basing my impression on sub zero because of that, and that ties in perfectly to the character vignette.

And Smoke will not become noob, that would be the most random move NR studios would do. Keep him human, and then make a cyber costume as DLC so everyone will be happy.

Aww, well I think Noob Saibot will definitely play a part in this story. At least I hope so, they seem to have set that up. I'm totally psyched about playing the story mode actually, can't wait to see all those cut-scenes! I like the little tease we got in the Scorpion gameplay demo...

"This is where I was reborn. This is where you will PAY!" Nice...

hmmmm Sub Zero being reborned as a cyborg? no that doesnt look right or sound right. i would rather want him be reborn as a demon wraith

and smoke, i like him as a cyborg more but i think he should go human cause i want to see the new design and moves he well get
