Long ago a bunch of Midway people left to form Studio Gigante, when that didn't work out to some unfortunate circumstances, they all pretty much went over to EA Chicago. Well sadly EA closed down that Studio, so they all gathered up and went over to a new startup called Robomodo working on a "secret" project for Activision Blizzard.

Today their game has been announced, Tony Hawk: Ride.

It now uses a skateboard controller, could be interesting. The game looks good, just wonder how the controls work in with the rest of the game.

I loved tony hawk games. But that was before Skate came out and gave tony hawk a fatality. The new game looks interesting, but i cant see myself getting on a fake board to play a video game. The gameplay looked too arcade, like jumps floated way too much. Oh well, maybe ill try it someday.

Well Tony Hawk was never particularly realistic, not even in the first entries in the franchise. Maybe it got more so later on, I haven't played once since like...3. But in Pro Skater 1 you could scale mountains and leap off buildings and get up for more punishment.

IMO There hasn't been a good TH game since THUG2, and that was given largely negative reviews by the press. It's hard to get excited by this. And besides, the controller looks like it will alienate those of us who can't actually skateboard. If you can skateboard, well, you go out and skateboard. On the plus side, it could teach gamers the fundamentals of skating, much like Rock Band/Guitar Hero have tought gamers to drum. Who knows?

The skate board doesn't have wheels, and it's fairly basic. There is also a level of difficulty that is adjusted along with the game, so it's not always really hard. The only thing I'd see wrong with the game is that I'd likely not enjoy it as I'd rather sit down with a controller, but I don't like games like Rock Band, anything on the Wii, etc as it's not my style of gaming and I'm lazy.

haha, same, except i love tryin to play guitar/bass on Guitar Hero & Rock Band. But yes, i dont care much for 99% of Wii catalog. (I will be purchasing one again soon tho since Tatsunko vs Capcom was confirmed for the US later in '09) Just give me a pad or a stick for my fighters, and a couch, too :-D

Lazy players for the win! I also happen to be of the "sit back and relax with a controller in my lap" variety. I did enjoy messing around with Guitar Hero/Rock Band while hanging out with my friends, but as someone who's much more of a solitary gamer, that whole Wii playing style is generally just not for me.

TBH I'm the same. And I predicted this would happen with the Wii when it was first announced. There are some great Wii games, like... I'll come back to that one, but any multi-format games are invariably better on the PS3 or XBox 360, and most of the Wii exclusives are gimmicky crap designed to appeal to either preteen girls or those who think they might actually recieve some kind of health benefit from playing. Mario Kart, that's a good game. Still thinking.

But I do love Guitar Hero, it's one of those games that is built for multiplayer, and is just as fun online as it is face to face. And the Wii still gets some action when I have guests.

Why did you say that in this thread Tim? I mean, I knew you'd be excited as soon as I read about that, you too Goaraka, but this is for Tony Hawk...

I'm a little pleased as well.

Because the thread kind of derailed onto how casual gaming, and the Wii in general, are a little bit arse. Tim was offering a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel.
I read up, it's coming to Europe. I don't know whether to be happy or sad, because while this is good news, it also slims down the chances of Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
