New Sub-Zero Video at IGN

Well don't they know Raiden is a god, and in charge of protecting the place they live, ie Earth? Really the Lin Kuei aren't "good" but they also aren't interested in being slaves to Shao Khan.
And I don't think the story begins in MK3, so the whole soul thing and invasion hasn't started yet.

they did know that raiden is a god and protecter cause the shinnok and quan chi thing with the amulet

and the sektor and cyrax tryin to track sub zero down started around the invasion

but you'll never know tho, hopefully raiden tells them before the invasion

It's 100% plausible. There is an undefined number of alternate realities and if you could restart your life you probably won't be what you are today, because you can't be sure that you'll make again the exact same choices you did in your first run. And I think the MK 9 story is based on this statement.
 
the way were directing the story, with the whole raiden telling the lin kuei to fight alongside the forces of light, etc. is making the story mode look like a forces of light vs. evil affair. what i would like to see is the character individualities explored, otherwise its gonna turn into MK vs. DC story mode.
 
Did anyone else notice that the opponent freezes a little before the ice stream actually touches him?
At time 0:39 you can see what I mean.

The thing I'm a little iffy on is... Didn't the MK Team say that even Raiden is unsure about the visions he receives? That would make it hard to bring great change to the timeline and to be taken seriously when asking other forces to fight along side you.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
 
I think that all those "Raiden talks to his version from the past thing" is only because Boon doesn't want to say: Well, we are working on a remake and it's possible that we will change things. So be prepared, guys!
With this "storyline" after Armageddon, Boon has his strange Raiden story behind him if he is going to be blamed by MK fans for changing too much. So he can still say: Hmmm that's because Raiden told to himself from MK1 and things were changed.
NR and Boon only want to be able to change some things, that's why they wrote this storyline in MK9. In fact, it's a new version of MK1-3, so don't think too much about this story with Raiden, it will be a MK remake

I wonder what made them say "Let's redo Mortal Kombat 1-3 in one whole game!"

I hope this means that Story Mode will be pretty lengthy. Three games in one... That's a lot.

Maybe they have big ideas for the follow up games. Things that just wouldn't work in the original timeline.

Boon has mentioned that they've wanted to re-boot the series by "bringing MK back to its roots (MK 1thru 3)."

Story mode has been said to be even longer than both of the MKvsDC storylines, put together.
 
A bit short is an understatement, etryus LOL. But yeah deceptions konquest mode was a good length and Boon specifically said story mode will be 3 TIMES longer than mk vs. dc.

YOU WORK FOR ME NOW!!" ysz is all like" YES DADDY" then, raiden transports over to the white lotus and is all like" HEY WHERE IS THAT HIPPY BRUCE LEE KNOCK OFF BIYATCH!!!" the old monk is like that way pointing toward the training lui kang. raiden walks over all pimp like limpin to the side with his staff in hand, and is all like" HEY YOU OVA THERE DOIN KICKS!!! lui kang is like who me? Raiden: "YOU KNOW WHO I'M TALKIN TO YA MARK ASS TRICK!!! lui kang: oh snap son now Iknow you didn't just call me a trick! ya now it's on!!! raiden: " BRING IT ON" blahblah blah punches kicks K.O.!!!

Is it just me or does this video make it seem as though Sub Zero's X-ray doesn't combo very well. I know that Scorpion's video showed him comboing into his X-ray, so why not Sub Zero? ='[

Well the thing is, sub zeros xray begins with him freezing the players leg and an icicle forms which launches the player in the air, leading to the xray move, while scorpions begins with him telport punching the opponent and then the xray move, so i could imagine it to be harder to incorporate a ground freeze within a combo...
 
Thanks for the reply Taj Gill. I understand now, but i still think it would have been nice if they found some way to include his X-ray in a combo for the video.
