But now, onto the story. What i think is what Shawnbronald said, they probably changed the storyline after announcing sub zeros character. It made sense for them to do this, because of a variety of reasons.

The first reason being what would they do with younger sub zero then? Turn him cyborg? **** NO, that would ruin such an iconic character, more people know about the younger "good" sub zero than the older brother, mainstream fans i mean, not us hardcore ones, so there probably would be intense fan backlash for ruining a character people, including me, have come to love. Leave him out of the game completely? Again, no because of fan backlash. Include 2 sub zeros in the game? Could have worked but i think it would have ultimately been a waste of character space, i wouldnt have minded that, but still, its not the smartest approach.

Another thing they probably realized is that if they eliminated older sub zero, there would be one word: NOOB. Now its easier for NR studios to put Noob in this game because of the older brother's death. And to keep both younger and older sub zero fans happy, they made younger sub more dark and out for revenge, sort of a combination of both sub zeros, which i say time and time again was the best move on NR studios' part.

So yeah, i have come to a conclusion that this is INDEED younger sub zero, scorpion also saying "AW HELL NO, YOU AINT SUB ZERO" helped support that fact as well.

Exactly my thoughts.
I would prefer seeing Noob Saibot make a return, than seeing the Original MK 1 Sub Zero being turned into a refrigerator (cyborg).
I would have prefered to see Older Sub Zero headline MK 9, but since he's not, then I'm glad that Noob Saibot has a GOOD chance of coming back.




I can't wait to see how NetherRealm is going to tie in these stories:

- Elder Sub Zero (Noob Saibot)
- Younger Sub Zero
- Scorpion
- Cyrax
- Sektor
- Smoke
 
Of course it's the younger brother. Why would Raiden's message change that whole situation? Past Raiden isn't even sure as to what's going on when he gets the message. I can't imagine it switching the two brothers.
 
What i wanna know is where this whole cyber sub zero crap came from :S. yeah i remember ed boon saying oh you never know what will happen, someone might turn cyborg, etc. but that was just a GENERAL STATEMENT, not for people to go crazy saying OMG SUB ZERO MIGHT TURN CYBORG. Why in the name of god would NR studios do that, i mean he has too big of a character and fan base, that would ruin him as i have said again and again.

I am against this whole retarded cyber idea, If they HAVE TO turn someone cyber, i hope they turn Stryker into robocop or something LOL, give the damn waste of space a story at least, if youre going to keep him in the series.

its something possible that could fit into the storyline if he didnt escape the lin kue when they turned everyone into cyborgs, and everyone thought that this was initially the original subzero so it might happen to the younger one. I would think a cyber subzero would be cool as long as they kept the other normal but i like where theyre going with the storyline now better
 
Question : Aren't the changes in the story related to Raiden's psychic message?

How does that change anything that isn't directly related to Raiden's mission? Are they just going about this saying "Raiden gets a message from his future self... oh and some other things change on their own, as well."?

Maybe they're taking the Back To The Future approach.

At one point in the movie Doc explains to Marty that interacting with his parents or people in the past, could have drastic effects on events in the future.

I'm a little sketchy on some of the back stories of the series... But what did Raiden have to do with the Lin Kuei? Him getting some frantic message from his future self wouldn't change things that have no relation to him. So I can't see how someone would turn or not turn cyborg because of this.

Maybe one of raiden's choices due to the vision allowed sub zero to live, i mean boon even stated that oh someone could turn cyborg, liu kang might not win Mortal Kombat because of raidens vision.

But that was my reasoning before they revealed this new sub zero story line, all that is out the window now and they brought in this new story that makes much more sense.

Because this is a re-telling of MK 1 thru 3, I could see how Older Sub Zero would show up, in "Story Mode."

Maybe somewhere along the "Story Mode" we will literally SEE Scorpion killing Sub Zero, and his younger brother coming back for revenge.
Or we could also see the process of Older Sub Zero becoming Noob Saibot.

I still think that the playable character in MK 9 is the younger Sub Zero, though.

EASY.

Raiden could try to convince Cyrax and Sektor to fight together WITH Sub Zero and Smoke, for the Forces of Light, rather than hunting them down.

This would increase Raiden's chances of beating Shao Kahn in the future.

maybe raiden knows young sub zeros a good guy in the later games so he goes seeking his help to change the future. After sending him self(raiden from mk1) a message in the past. Raiden then talks to sub zero and finds out his brother is dead and now sub zero goes looking for revenge on scorpion instantly.

Oh and by the way did anyone notice his ice clone technique at 22 sec against mileena?

Or how about this... when you are at the scorpion point in story mode, you fight and kill ORIGINAL SUB ZERO. Then when you reach sub zeros playable part, you are in the role of YOUNGER SUB ZERO, because in this game, all he does is take his older brothers identity.
 
How do you know that the original sub zero dies that might be the younger one who does .
Or Maybe he turns into a robot?

but he just cant tell them to do it, there programed to haunt and track down smoke and sub zero.
well, maybe if he reprograms them, they can fight along side with them.

This wouldn't make the Lin Kuei good, because in the end they are just protecting themselves.

naw cause Raiden probly doesnt trust the Lin Kuei since older sub zero ****ed up with the whole shinnok and quan chi thing.

EDIT: plus its gonna be too late cause the ALL the souls of the Lin Kuei(as well as everyone elses one earthrealm besides raiden choosen ones) have been taken from shao Kahn so there is gonna be no way her kan tell them now.

Im loving all the theories guys!!! you know what would be awesome, if one or more of ours would actually be the real story about this little older/younger sub zero predicament.

Some guy in a pointy hat walks and in says "I have seen the future... and shit flies, boys."

They're just gonna be like - Oh... alright. Sure. We'll help.

I doubt it. But we'll see. When it comes to the MK Team, anything is possible. They turned Sonya into a man, after all. :p
