New classic skins revealed: MK3 Cyber Sub-Zero/UMK3 Sub-Zero unmasked

just my 2 cents on the whole retro csz bit. i think it makes perfect sense for the following reasons: cyber smoke doesn't exist in this timeline, only human smoke; sektor and cyrax first appeared in mk3 as cyborgs, so it would make sense to give csz the same palette swap that those two have with each other, keeping it in line with the times so to speak; csz didn't have an alt at all.

that being said, cyber smoke would be pretty cool as a completely different character with his mk3 move set, the palette swap alt, and a new cyborg costume more in line with the others in mk9. i'd gladly pay the $5 for that.

Then what is the logic behind not giving Skarlet an alternate for "not existing then" when she exists in this timeline?

I agree with you, I think both Skarlet and Rain need to get a classic skin, and Kenshi should also get an alternate costume.

YES this is so awesome!!!!!!! I was worried this compatibility pack was going to make me download crappy krueger because I was expecting bad ass skins, now I don't ever have to see freddy online. Freddy krueger + ugly unmasked subz + boring retro cy sub = no download.
 
I'm a MK player since MK1 first hit an arcade in Mexico (93-94?) and played EVERY MK ever released... seriously am I the only one almost creaming himself because of this? Guys this is facking cool!! when MK3 unmasked sub came out, people said he was fugly because of the suspenders and other shit... well he has a whole UMK3 ninja outfir without a mask, and his characteristic scar... how cool is that?

People also made a Hydro thread... there is your hydro!! just a little colder ;) but it's basically him (teleport, huge sword to replace sword-arm)

Also, correct me if I'm wrong... but from personal experience, and even an article I read in a local magazine, SZ is the first character that people remember when they hear Mortal Kombat... like it or not, everyone knows him, casual fan or not, so I see this being a big success, despite all the cry-babies.

EDIT: On the cyber Smoke bit... well I wanted him too, but I was never a huge fan of cyber Smoke back in UMK3 (robo-Scorpion with Sektor punch?... ) and I don't wanna see my favorite ninja of this game just get cyberized like that, he needs to be a brand new character with his own set of moves and combos, and new fatalities please... something actually gruesome! Just be patient guys, he will come out sooner or later.

I'm honestly glad it's CSZ and not Smoke. Pretty cool pack actually. I never, never use CSZ but this sort of makes me want to use him.

i actually agree with you on this. never does it mention me saying that skarlet, kenshi or rain shouldn't get palette swap alts. well, not a palette swap kenshi for obvious reasons. my point was that the retro csz makes sense to do, like it or not.

I hope you rot in a corner. Not downloading because you didn't get what you wanted and boycotting a character that I'm sure will do great. You are going to piss off a lot of people and I hope you get shunned for that.

That's to all you people not happy because it's Cyber sub. I don't even play as him. Happy he got an alternate, a lot of people have been asking for one. It's free anyways so just shut up already.

Actually, I want it now! I know we've only got four days to go, but I'm spoilt and impatient and I want it NOW!

Not to be rude but for the LAST time dlc classics didn't come as a compatibility pack because it makes no sense!!

Compatibility packs are for ppl who don't buy the dlc characters,so u can still at least fight against them on an offline

It's also an incentive so other ppl can use them against U online..so for instance if I don't buy skarlet why would I download a compatibility pack to get a costume for a player I don't have..

I expect umk3 classics for all the ninjas..$5-$8

Klassics or alternates for all dlc fighters..free or $5

An maybe classics for every1 At $10 maybe more since they wouldn't b palette swaps so it would take more time an $

An I expect at least 1-2 of those packs by the end of the year IMO

My problem with the costume is more with the fact that it's just a downgraded version of what he has rather than an actual alternate costume for him. If they had provided a cooler, unique cyber look for him, I might be down for that with the unmasked subzero.

How is it downgraded? He is getting treated like a Klassic character which he isn't. They are deeming him an orginal character now. It isn't downgrading anyone or anything, they felt they left him out of having an alternate. If they made a completely new costume, it'd cost. And frankly I don't blame them if they put a price on it. It's brand new and they know they would make some money on it.

Because all of the other characters actually have alternate costumes that are actually different costumes. His alternate is just an older version of the robot costume...downgraded.
