MKT was a great idea that was executed extremely poorly. The problem with it was not the number of characters, but how they were implemented. Broken characters, sloppy visuals, that useless Aggressor bar, sloppily added old stages and more lame finishers. MK9 seems to be striving for greatness in all of these areas while using tried-and-true characters, so how you can make this comparison is beyond me.
 
Sindel has already been absolutely confirmed...as for the roster i guess this is the most accurate, except one where author put cyber smoke instead of human - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf7Mxqddz4U

...so next characters for dlc select icon - Kratos (PS3 only) and Quan Chi...yes! i'm absolutely SURE he'll be DLC character even though i don't know for a fact...as for Xbox 360 exclusive character its still not known anything...i'd recommend Raziel from Soul Reaver Legacy Of Kain...in my opinion he's perfect candidate! ...oh and as for other dlc characters it is likely Tanya, Fujin and Shinnok to se returning with quite a few from post MK4 chars like Sareena for example or Kira...
 
Smoke will be a Cyborg. They hinted at Cyborg Smoke in the MKast and plus they would disappoint his fans by foolishly keeping him Human this time around.

Raiden's changes won't stop the Lin Kuei from capturing Smoke.

My thoughts exactly. I have seen people make such comparisons before and it's just ignorance IMO. As for Trilogy, its amusing to me now that when it first came out, I enjoyed it immensely and was oblivious to all its faults. I'm sure I wasn't the only one, as much as we all look down on it these days.

I don't look down on it at all. The game was flawed but it served me well when I was younger. And I'd still play it over games like Deception and Deadly Alliance.

Where did they hint at cyborg Smoke exactly? If it's because they showed UMK3 footage of him, that really doesn't justify a hint, likely just combo examples (regarding the run function IIRC). I do believe there's more, or at least as much, demand for human Smoke, and there's no reason to call it foolish. That's your biased opinion. Also a mistake to place so much faith in your storyline prediction. I have my own ideas of what may happen regarding the alternate cyborg scenario, but I'll keep them to myself as it's already been discussed at length.

Actually it does. The game will have MK-UMK3 characters. Cyborg Smoke(also Kabal)are from that era and are fighting in a confirmed arena in this game from that era. It's no coincidence.

It's like when they hinted at Ninja Smoke and Jade in part 3, or Sonya/Baraka in the Pit Bio vid, or Liu Kang and Ermac, also the Warrior Shrine and Goro's Lair in the Scorpion's Spear vid, etc..

You are right, I'm biased towards my favorite Cyborg.

I don't see it as a mistake, I'm willing to bet he will be automated.

Raziel is one of my favorite video game characters but, I think Kain would be a better fit. However, Kain is actually a better candidate with his bloody kills and ability to telekinetically suck blood out of his victims. Raziel sucks souls but, his physical appearance would fit right in MK.

I'm afraid you are in the minority yet again. There have been many polls on here and else where and most people want human Smoke and would be disappointed with the cyborg.

Agreed. I would love both with one as alt costume. But I'd much prefer smoke as a human NINJA....as in cloth clothing.....
 
...well as for me i preffer cyborg version to human too, because that is how i recognize and know smoke on the first place...i've known him since MK3 game and was glad to see him as cyborg in MK Anihilation movie...as for Quan Chi character there's like 90% possibility for him to be DLC character rather than original, at least that is what we know about him as of now...oh and you can consider Stryker, Kabal and Noob Saibot confirmed too, because seriously those audio clips couldn't be taken from air right? just think logically why it would be on official site (even for a short period of time) just to end up being hoax? i smell nonsense...so consider those three confirmed and chances for Sheeva and Rain to appear rises highly if Shao Kahn and Goro won't have character screen select icon, but instead will be some kind of hidden/secret characters...as for Kratos and yet nothing known about xbox 360 exclusive character i bet they both will be in DLC character select icon rather than regular character select icon...

Well if we are going by the leaked audio clips Smoke sounds human and Quan Chi is in not DLC. I say they leave out Rain from the main roster and the bosses (be it 2 or 4) will be unlockable or DLC.
Everyone from MKT - Rain + Quan Chi = 26.

...you're wrong about Quan Chi it HIGHLY suggested, or nearly CONFIRMED he'll be DLC
 
His intro was in the leak therefor on the main roster if you can put faith in the leak and I say you can count it a confirmed legit.

So because the game will have MK1-3 characters, that means Smoke's cyborg version is the one that logically must be in? As if they don't have enough characters from that era already? I don't see the logic in discounting Smoke's debut human form from MK2. Or the (at least equal) demand for that form. Cyborg Smoke isn't technically another character either, just a different version same as unmasked SZ for example.

As for the rest of those hints, what you've written is proof enough that there's no reason to call them hints. No character reveals or elaboration followed shortly after them, I think they just chose the best characters to prove whatever points accompanied the footage. It's common knowledge the game will include those 'hinted' characters anyway, our curiosity is in their design.

Stating that Cyborg Smoke WILL be the version that's in the game is obnoxious. I don't ignore the possibility that it may be the case, and I don't mind either, because I enjoyed that design too. It's possible both may be in, Cyborg as an alternate skin for example (though this has implications on the shared moveset). Until it's revealed we won't know for sure, but at this time the leaked audio points to human.

This post is probably too long for this topic, sorry for dragging it out. Anyway I encourage you to consider it.
 
I say have robo and human smoke, give them completely different moves, and have them share a character slot. A little icon would appear on screen when you highlight their box, press X for human, start for robo.:)
