Mortal Kombat X: Stereoscopic 3D

Now that 3D televisions are more and more
affordable and the power of new consoles
allows for full hd presentation, It would be
totally awesome if the game has stereoscopic
3D support. The backgrounds are very beautiful
and amazingly detailed and the characters
themselves boast great details. I most definitely
want the developers to look into this
preposition.

VR might take 2 years or more to be more mainstream. But for now give us 3D :D

Yeah, it will take a while for sure. Plus Ed confirmed MKX won't support the Oculus, nor will it support Morpheus. So that leaves us with 3D, which I think is a given (at least on PS4)

Warner Brothers Games seems closer to Sony, which lead to NRS making Kratos and 3D on PlayStation then porting it to PS Vita with additional features then Injustice Ultimate on PS4 & PS Vita.
I'm hoping to see some extra perks to PlayStation owners this time as well( heck even a PS Vita port). Afterall PlayStation is the only thing where all the main MK games have released.

MK9 had pretty good 3D on the PC.
Only some of the background effects (fog, heat haze), some other random effects (shockwaves in the X-rays and Nightwolf's axe) and the fatalities' "black curtain" looked wrong.

It would be really nice if they took it into account and gave it proper, fully functional 3D this time though.

One thing that looks really cheap is the sand in the Desert Stage. When I finish off someone with Noob he/she is crawling toward me on a sand rug.

Guess you're talking about Noob's "hole in the floor" fatality, right?
Never saw that one in stereo 3D.

3D dead?
How many action/sci-fi movies have you seen come up in the last 5 years that haven't come out in 3D?
Seems like money talks and it says 3D is not dead.

3D TV's have dropped in price because the gimmick is dead. Hardly any videogames use it anymore and 3D only TV stations are almost all gone. The only thing you can pretty much use 3D TV's for now is movies. I seriously doubt MKX will be 3D

Given the massification of 3D TVs you mention, and the fact that pretty much every game supports stereo 3D to some degree without the developer specifically intending it, 3D on PC is very much alive.
Any Unreal Engine based game produces really good 3D if they don't add any effects that break it (as was with the fatalities' "black curtain" in MK9).
Super Street Fighter IV produces one of the most pleasing 3D experiences I've seen in a video game.

But that is, of course, on the PC.
Consoles are most certainly screwed since 3D in console games requires specific implementation effort and I can't imagine them bothering at all.

I think everyone experiences 3D differently.
To some it's annoying, to some it's nothing special, and for some of us it adds a whole new level of realism.
To each their own.

BTW, did I mention Super Street Fighter IV in 3D is amazing?

I think 3D is pretty bad ass when utilized correctly! It would be especially awesome with MKX if they knew they were including it from the start of production and could fully take advantage of it! There would be no weirdness with the Fatalities either since they FINALLY removed the stupid "Fatality Curtain".

Having said that, I really don't think they're going to feature a Stereoscopic 3D mode for MKX. At least not for any of the consoles. They're focused on using all their resources on a Native 1080p 60fps experience, with as high of graphic fidelity they can get from their current engine.

I think the black curtain in MK9 looks pretty bad even in 2D.. it's kind of distracting. In my opinion they should have used black fog and perhaps a subtle depth of field effect instead.

As for 3D it's pretty awesome but not comfy on my eyes no matter the implementation. On the other hand I haven't gotten to try the latest VR Helmets so I don't know how they compare. I just know most 3D glasses stereovision causes eye strain for me. Within minutes my eyes are feeling funny.

Every film at the theater that's in 3D has been also shown in 2D as well because not everyone likes or is capable of watching 3D. My local theater doesn't even give you 3D unless you specifically ask for it. Plus, quite a few movies aren't even shot natively in 3D and are instead converted in post for 3D.

Also, yeah typically 3D requires 2x the resources to draw one frame per eye. So if you wanted MKX in 3D (at least on consoles) you may have to deal with playing it at 30FPS... in order to split the frames up for both eyes... nobody wants that! Especially on PC where they cry foul at games being capped at 30FPS. In order for MKX to be at the FPS people want they'd probably need 120FPS so 60 can be for each eye.

At the cinema 3D is pretty cool and popular. In the living room... not so much. In fact, it's dying. However, on PC it's still a thing.
