This is pretty much what they said in the interview.

Mortal Kombat Online Interview (april 18, 08 )
- Boon is unsure if the story will be cannon, will decide when they start making Mortal Kombat 9.
- Both heroes and villians will be in the game for each brand.
- Fighting Styles are not in the game.
- Fatalities wont be in the game, but finishing moves will.
- Midway wants the game to be rated Teen, but will try to push it to the limit so its 1 step away from Mature rating.
- Game will be playable at E3.
 
Good to know since I haven't been able to get into MKO all day. Anyone else had that problem?
 
I did earlier....then i had to find my name and password to access the video, then i had to listen to the buzzing sound throughout the video. LOL.
 
Interesting interview, MKO is one of the better sites like this one to get the scoop on general MK news...

My only beef with them is that every time there's a huge update their servers go down for a day or two...

I'm excited for this game honestly, and unlike a lot of the fans that complain about it after day one lol I'm looking forward to the actual "whole game" not just "fatalities"....

The hype for fatalities died a while ago, so if it's fun to play but has toned down fatalities/finishers so be it.
 
Well I personally think fatalities are at the core of MK's appeal. Finishers are fine as long as they're fun to watch and satisfying to pull off. Not like the kreate-a-fatality from MKA...that was dissapointing. As long as the finishers give that same feeling, it doesn't really matter if they're particularly gorey.
 
Yeah, I'm not saying Fatalities aren't "cool" but let's face it lol they're not what they were years ago in the earlier games. Fatalities were one of the huge things that appealed to MK 10+ years ago, that's died down a bit since then. I was slightly disappointed that "fatalities" weren't going to be back but that doesn't mean you can't kill someone with the "finishers" like boon said, that's DC right there obviously not wanting their flagship guys have their spine ripped out or blown up lol

And there's those certain MK fans that will never be pleased no matter what Midway does lol at this point, know what I mean?

I think they can do some interesting "finishers" that will at the very least be better then the MKA fatalities which were boring, repetitive most of the time so I agree with you there.

I'm looking forward to the change.
