The same happened to Terrordrome a few years ago... WB asked them to remove some characters, but Terrordrome is finished now, they released it, and anyone can donwload it for free... Sure, WB doesn't like if a fan made game is too good, but they can't do anything against the project if you don't make money out of it.
 
It's not about being chicken, I can live without it and stay hassle free.

Even if I had the money, it's not important enough that I would be willing to fight for it.


Fighting a legal battle with a large corporation, so people can play a home brew version of MK, is not logical.

This is Warner Bros, New Line cinema, paramount, Sony and a bunch of other IPs from various companies in one non profitable game ..... A game that actually exist and one that can be downloaded today. Please don't chicken out guys

Guys, I am pretty sure Bleed won't give his assets to you and let you finish the game.
I sense that he actually wants to quit this project and that no cease and desist was ever given to him.
This is his pretext to leave I think.

How do we even know that this cease and desist is not an elaborate hoax made by a hater to attempt and convince Bleed that it's real?
I want to see the actual cease an desist being aknowledged by warner brothers themselves somewhere, otherwise I call this bullshit.

I asked Ed Boon if this is true and I will find very soon if this project was really taken down by WB or if Bleed is being lied by some idiot or is lying himself as an excuse to end his work here.
I will keep you all updated as I get an official answer from warner browers or ed boon, whoever answers first.

OK guys this is real. Please don't blame Bleed. That is no way to repay him for all his work. He also never said he was quitting the project. If that is true I am quite sure Bleed would hand over his characters. WB has not asked us to do anything other than remove the web site for this project. No official cease and decist given because there isn't any "product" to remove. Bleed has since complied and removed the links to the web site so everything is ok for now. If Bleed is spooked I totally respect that. Not worth the legal hassles.

Bleed spoke with the WB person on the phone, this is just a warning, if you continue working on it and it comes out one day you'll get C&D and 'We'll see you in court' deal. This is not the first fan remake to end this way and it won't be the last. I've seen it before. Guys, this is the end for MKHD I'm affraid, the sooner you realize that the better. I would advise Bleed not to publish his sprites, because someone out there WILL make some sort of "MK game" with it, and that can prompt WB to take actions against you. They know you are behind the sprites, and you are open to public with your full name on the internet (deviantart, portfolio etc.) I'm afraid you'd be a sitting duck in that situation, and I'd hate to see something like that happen to you. Ignore the selfish "give us your work NOW" assholes and look after yourself. Keep making you're models and animations, as that's something you love doing, but don't share them, it will bite you in the arse.

Changing the game's name, characters, music, etc would be pointless at this time, especially after we tried so hard to keep every little MK detail in there. I'd like nothing more then for you guys to make a brand new fighting game from scratch, but you won't have something to look at like you did here with the old MK games, which automatically makes it 100X harder to begin with.

Unless someone else "stole" bleeds sprites and they found there way online by someone other than him. Enough people have been grabbing the ones posted on this forum, and have been appearing on other websites.

But I'd say you guys could keep making the sprites for the characters and then just release them individually.

No one really cares about a website, as long as the product is finished we'll all be satisfied.


Apologies to Bleed if we came off sorta bitter, most of us are super nerds and have literally been waiting almost 5 yrs for u guys to finish this project. Please forgive us.
