Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

Excellent work! Send it over when you can.

K so here's my final bridge edit Calactyte:

For reference:

The changes I did from the last one were firstly adding proper edges between the top and the side, since before there was only a straight blended line which was really bugging me. Other than that, I balanced the lighting out and color graded it to the original, and I think it resembles it pretty closely now. I don't have any more changes I want to make, so if you're happy with this then I'll send it to you.

Sorry for taking so long, I've struggled to find time lately but I have a lot to spare this week, so I can get on with the rest of the project smoothly again.

I have a few question about this remix:

- Will the combat system be equal to first two MK games or like MK3 (with combos)?
- Not technically present in the first game, but will be added Ermac?
- Reptile will have his own moveset or he will use moves by Subzero and Scorpion like in the original game? Will it be selectable/unlockable?
- The fatalities are the same or more...gory? For example Liu Kang fatality is the only fatality that doesn't really kill the opponent, only a special move. I'm sure many fans would like to see it improved

@calactyte: cant' wait can't wait XD
@jarvis653: can't wait for the UI :P
@badmouse: let's talk in msn later
@Bleed: cool, what's next after jumps? win pose, block, get hit?
@Sub-Zera: stage is looking good!
@StickyMarlboro: think about arcade mk1 and you will have all the answers

Subzera here is the other side statue. I have a preview PNG here:

I hate to say this, but I really don't like that statue clactyte.
I think the face is WAY off, it looks all messed up. The original statue(s)
had that typical Chinese wise old man face, mustache & goatee etc.

Also, the hands, fingers mainly are clearly visible in the original, where yours seem
to be hidden under the sleeves.

Don't get me wrong, I love your work so far, but I feel these statues should be more
detailed. These statues are not just something in the background, in fact one of them
is closer to the "camera" than the characters are, and that's why I think they should
be more detailed than this. Faces and hands in particular, maybe even their body/dress,
yours look much more "rounded" on the bottom of it.

LOL, wow, I never saw the source so I based it off of what's on MK warehouse. I'll fix the face then. Glad you could provide a closer up source than what is shown on that site. I can actually see some details now. It's a pretty simple fix to add those details in, I honestly just couldn't see them. I'll provide SubZera with a better statue soon.

Also so you don't think I'm blind,
this was the image I was working off of, which is supposed to be from the arcade but is clearly, way lower resolution:

Please notice the distinct lack of detail I was working from.

I've seen on deviant art some nice MK HD stuff about the stages. Maybe someone here in the forum already saw them and probably are members themselves on deviant art but if not, have you tried to ask help to them for artwork?

The art seen on Deviant Art are independent projects which were started, and likely never finished. The people creating the stages and characters here are far more talented in 3D work than the MK HD art I have seen on Deviant Art. Thanks for the tip, though.

Plus, a lot of those on Deviant Art are just mock-ups.

Ok, I have the fireball animation. I know it's not very good, but I tried. I can't say I'm 100% happy with it, but it's a start. Tell me what you think and I'll make any changes that are needed. Oh, and this is just a preview, something went wrong while uploading, so it has white around the fire, but the original does not have that white outline. If you click it to open on a separate tab with a white background, you don't notice it.

Looks really cool, but I think it shouldn't have the ball in it. It's cooler with just the fire.

It's because a gif uses 1 color for transparency, and your animation should have a smooth falloff.

It'll look right on here, if you put the animation over a background or convert the images to indexed color.

Converting to Indexed color in Photoshop will replace the smooth transparency with a single masking color.

You can't do it to an animated file though, because it will collapse all the frames and layers to 1. You have to run the color mode on every file separately, before creating the animation.

You can use a recorded action for this and use the batch automation. After that, you load the images as layers using the Load Files in to stack script.

In the animation window, use these options
* create frames from layers
* Reverse frames
* Select all frames, and change the time for them all at once.

Then you can save the gif, and show it right on here. Of course, the smooth transparency will be gone, but it'll work.

Again, if you want to keep the smooth transparency you need to put a background on the gif, so it doesn't use transparency at all.

;------------------------------------------------

@Interloko, I'll probably go with a get hit animation and some basic attack.

Okay, but the thing is, I used 3ds max with FumeFX and it needs something to cover with fire. I'll try to cover it up as best I can so the ball is not visible, and I'll try to get a more steady fire going.

@Bleed: Thanks for the tip.

Did you set the sphere as not renderable, through the right click / basic properties menu?

Does Fume FX have an option to Hide emitter?

putridgorespewer, there isn't another character to skin or texture right now, but if you can model characters it's okay to work on that.

If you can't model characters that good, modeling props for them is fine, bracers, shoes, glasses, straw hat...

Doing the animation is holding me from making the other character models at this time.

The quality should sort of match the rest of the work. If it's good we use it and if something can be done better, we may use that instead.
