Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

The whole body proportions and shape of MK9 models are simply ridiculous.

Liu Kang sprites test.
some of the sprites were cut from the animation for fit the arcade timing, and some were re sized to 90%, they looked too big

Everytime I see a video that resembles gameplay...i pee my pants a little. It looks incredible. Any MK fan's dream.

Think, Raiden's statue needs some color correction. Scorpion's picture in original has the pupils of eyes.

And the lights in Cage glasses looks much different.

Was it in original, that Liu's feet (his right feet) moves from one place to another? Also, think, Rayden's statue needs some color correction. Scorpion's picture in original has the pupils of eyes.

I think you may have proved my point. Don't take this the wrong way, but with the exception of the noticeable brightness/contrast issue with the Raiden statue, does anything else you listed really matter to you? I mean do you REALLY mind the reflection in Cage's glasses being different? Also, Scorpion's eyes on the MK2 select screen are all white, so it's not as if it's out of place.

Yeah, but those people are spending a lot of time to be as near to original, as possible. It will be pitty, if such little details will spoil the whole picture, I think.

Great, I can't wait to play this game, the gameplay really feels like mk1, an about the sprites resized... It's really strange cause I used the same batch options for all the sprites, but either ways it's looking great I really really liked his turning animation, are the adding the same amount of sprites to his jumping and ducking animation as the original had?

The animations has more sprites than the original arcade but matchs the timing of the animations. For example the landing after jump are just 2 sprites with 3 frames the first one and 4 the second, I've added 7 sprites with 1 frame each to match the 3+4 from arcade animation ;)

So simple, just math, I didn't understand anything but that's why you are the programmer, LOL, great job one more time

@Interloko, I can't help noticing that the jumping height should be a wee bit higher.
Here I tried to capture the highest point in both.
In the original, the rotation center reaches about as high as the bottom of the energy bars, and it's a little lower in yours.

I only point it out because (albeit slightly) it would probably affect gameplay mechanics.

We actually discussed Scorpion's eyes and decide to go with the version without pupils because we felt that it was an oversight which they corrected in MK2. We do have a version with pupils though, just not using it.

I have Raiden updated now with a higher resolution base model, more than 4 times higher resolution textures than Baraka. Hopefully I'll be able to get some really fine details on this one.

I separated costume parts to their own UV tiles, and they are all 4k maps.

Baked out the Displacement and normal maps, got that all set up in max. Now I can start with a rig and texturing.

Uker, If the floor is set a little higher in one stage, the jump will change to match. Maybe you are right, but I'd check on the same stage to make sure.

The floor level might change to match the background sprites on different stages.

Man, that Raiden is looking incredible.
Not sure about the hat though. Never saw it having such markedly concave profile, and it might be due to the angle, but it appears to sit too high, like it would probably be too far from his eyes when seen from the side.
Also, the rear of the hat should go lower than the front (this I really can't properly tell seen from the front).

Check this:

Also, the shirt's neck should go about two thirds down neck-to-waist.

I made the image by making Cage's height match feet to head, so it should not be affected by changes in the floor level.
