Mortal kombat..Future

I'd have to say I don't want to see many new ninjas for at least a couple games. I know most of you want 1/2 or more of the roster to be ninjas running around, but that doesn't quite work for me. Even with using all the classic ninjas, you've still got Tanya etc to fill in for the next couple games.

there is a 50% chance of burt and Ernie also everyone has a 50% chance other than Cameleon because it was stated by Ed. how many 50% threads do we need

What does the future hold for MK?

I'm totally pumped for MK(9) and hope it's all it's shaping up to be. I was thinking to myself, I wonder what will be next for this series? What do you all think the next direction will be? Will it stay 2D, will it integrate a whole new storyline? What are your future wishes for our beloved series?

Re: What does the future hold for MK?

Staying 2-D, The Demo was AMAZING and Thats not even gonna stay the same! It'll get better, And I really want maybe they could bring back the 8-Player Kombat from MK Trilogy.

I think MK has mastered 2.5D (2d fighting with 3d background/characters). They will keep this ( I hope)

As for the story line... this I am psyched for. MK9 story is really REALLY good, and the changes will change future events. The storyline, I hope, will continue to get better.

As I've always stated, I think all characters from the series (with the exception of a view [Mokap]) should be able to make a return and be given a legitimate story.

Re: What does the future hold for MK?

I reckon it'll definitely stay 2D for the next game, probably just improve over what is in MK9 as much as they can and maybe some new modes or something!

Story-wise I think it'll definitely go somewhere new. I've not read the story spoilers but from comments and stuff there are big changes for some characters so I can't see them following the 4/DA story but hopefully give us something new and some new characters (and maybe a few of the good characters from 4 onwards!)

Re: What does the future hold for MK?

Just use the new technology to make it badder and better.

Dont put in new characters just for the sake of a bigger roster. Only the ones you think fit and 1 or 2 new ones you feel very confident in their awesomeness.

Interactive rag-doll fatalities where you get some amount of time to destroy them in a completely new fashion every time.

Re: What does the future hold for MK?

I'm thinking that the style it's in now will be it's eternal style. WB's is gonna keep pumping in money as long as they keep making flawless games to keep the fans happy. My guess is they'll continue on with the story for different games and adding more elements, like the possibility of more KAK and tagteam fatalities (something Boone hinted at being a factor in MK10 in a tweet)

Re: What does the future hold for MK?

It seems to me that with the capability of downloadable kontent, MK's longevity just went through the f***ing roof of the belltower. Even though they will no doubt be working on a sequel soon enough, the game kan stay fresh for years with the addition of kharacters, levels and all kinds of extras that only MK kan accomplish. Kompetitive play alone will keep you busy for months at a time, let alone add-ons.

My final thought: MK is poised to grip the fighting game market by the testicles and violently castrate it, changing the landscape up yet again and pressuring capcom to play catch up. To quote Raiden from the MK movie, "Mortal Kombat is not about death, but life." and MK's life looks to have been fully restored. viva la MK

Re: What does the future hold for MK?

I think the next games (if they come out) will likely be in 2D. As for the future storyline, Idk really. But seeing as MK2011 is about MK,2, and 3. The next MK can be called Mortal Kombat 2, and will heavily involve MK4, DA, and D storylines and characters. So the roster is likely to be bigger, but this gives the newer characters the spotlight more. Im actually excited for the unpredicatable future for MK.

The next games im hoping for or predicting:
Mortal Kombat 2 (sequel to MK2011, based on MK4,MKDA,MKD)
Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks 2 (MK3/MK4 timeline)
Remake of MKT for current consoles (PS3,360,Wii,3DS,and/or NGP)

Re: What does the future hold for MK?

Mortal Kombats future is secure. WB is the best thing to ever happen to MK. With Midway out of the picture Ed Boon has much more freedom, time and funds to create the best kontent for the future of MK. this new MK is gonna ROCK the fighting game genre and kick Street Fighters butt! Its gonna be 1992 all over again when Mortal Kombat Dethrones SF once again. Im not raggin on SF because I still like it, but MK has and always will be coursing through my blood.

Mk4+ is pretty much dead. Which, since a lot of people didn't like the storyline, I suppose is good.
As for the MK4+ characters, they should all* be incorporated.

*with a few exceptions.

Re: What does the future hold for MK?

It'll stay in 2D, thats for sure, or at least I hope so. The story can only get better too (haven't read any of the spoilers yet either) since it seems that they're truly focused on it. I think it would be pretty cool to add first person fatalities or at least a camera that shows the fatality in first person, whether from the victim's view or the guy doing the fatality; if they don't add it, it doesn't hurt me at all though lol. I love MK the way it is.

Re: What does the future hold for MK?

What I want to see is a continued strength with the story, new epic character's(not cheesy thrown together types as filler's), ones that really help shape a fresh feel into the MK world. I also think a new game should be presented around a 2 year mark. This would be the perfect time frame to really develope and improve upon thing's, yet be a short enough time span to keep us MK fan's happy and excited. Gameplay wise based on the demo, I'd like to see just a bit of improvement on speed. Now, I'm well aware the demo is about 10 weeks old in developement comparison, so I'll give my final opinion on that matter once I play the final product. I'm not at all saying it's a slow game, I'm just hoping for maybe a slight increase in the speed department.

Since MK9 will have a lot of DLC, I honestly wouldn't mind waiting 3 or 4 years to get a new game.

Better yet, storyline DLC--for those of us who buys the game (MK9) can pay like 40$ and just download the continuations. (New story, new characters, new stuff)

You are right, but I was just saying: keep the ones you have and go on, don't add any Tremor, Hydro and other waste of bits.

HELLLLLLL NO iv wanted tremor to make an appearance for YEARS, him and Hydro need to make an appearance, hearing subzero and scorpion is getting tasteless and we need some new faces, some new stories, to keep the ninja part alive, i mean who wouldnt want tremor, with the ability to earth bend...... kinda, like raise stone spikes out of the ground, or cause earthquakes with a ground pound or something, hydro on the other hand could be like smoke and Rain, a teleport move but instead of smoke its a mist or something, shoot water so fast its like water sickle that pierces its opponent

there is a lot of stuff you can do with just those two, hell maybe they could even bring in one of scorpions family, someone who survived or something? i mean the story DID change anything is possible.... i just hope they stay on the 2d plane, keep the characters unique, intros, outros, taunts, specials, and like someone said in another thread you can even have special intros, subzero will fight scorpion and say

Subero: ill avenge the death of my brother!
Scorpion: you shall meet him soon.....

and like Ed said on his twitter, tag team fatalities, i would REALLY love to see hidden characters, hidden fights, and maybe a few humors like friendships and babilities, and animalities

also it would be awesome if say you upper cut someone you can hear shao kahn in the background laughing or saying "superb" "outstanding"

and one last idea i would like is to have Kintaro, Motaro and Onaga, one of those three needs to make a debut im leaning more towards Onaga and Outworld, something like a konquest mode or something, i LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED deceptions Konquest it was AMAZING!

ahhh well im kinda getting off topic and rambling, but those are my suggestions to MK10 :)

Re: What does the future hold for MK?

Everybody from MK4 except Jarek should return and a few from DA and Deception like Nitara and Havik. The story needs to not get so chaotic and hard to follow like it did up to Armageddon. I think it for sure stays 2.5D and the story is cannon and goes into a whole new direction.
