Mortal Kombat (2011) Finished and Gone Gold

Gold... happy to hear this! On another side I will sincerely miss all these months passed readin every bit of news, looking for infos, videos, pictures, all the hype and reveals...

No, I'm not happy because:

1) 360 users didn't get the demo;
2) NRS/WB promotion sucks and we have to rely on moles and insiders for infos, and please, take a look at the "official" website, there's NOTHING over there! Five characters and half, that's all!!!
3) icing of the cake: the game is gone gold and they give us DEMO SCREENSHOTS??? With the same four characters and two stages over and over???

The only good thing is that has been a lot of fun browsing through the various fan sites for months on a daily basis searching for infos and stuff while talking with cool people, I'll miss these days! :|

I completely agree. Especially on the part about browsing sites and meeting cool peeps. I had never visited TRMK before a few months ago upon learning of the new MK game. Since finding TRMK i've met some cool peeps who've been really helpful getting me involved in the MK universe again.

Gonna miss that feeling of anticipation and stuff but i am looking forward to unlocking all new stuff and posting about it on TRMK

Comes from back in the old days, where the final copy of a game would be delivered to the publisher on a gold master disc, and then they'd use that to start putting it into mass production. Its not really done that way anymore, more likely NRS would have uploaded the final version of the game over the net to WB's servers, but the term "gone gold" still sticks around :)
 
Man, to not know what "Going Gold" means seems like gaming blasphemy. How young do you have to be to not know that term? I'm not trying to bash, I'm sure not all old school gamers know what it means. But I've never seen so many people ask what it means before.

Is it because I've been playing PC games forever? Maybe consoles haven't known the term for as long?

Anyway, enough of me being stupid, CONGRATULATIONS NRS, WB, AND EVERYONE WHO WORKED HARD ON THIS PROJECT! (that includes you TRMK for giving us the drop on anything you found out, and sorry for the caps).
 
Gold master is the final game's build that is used as a master for production of the game.

Yahoo Answers says that going gold is the end of Beta Testing and like you said the game being available for mass production

you know in the UK 'i wonder why there is no posters advertising the game on the undergroiund / tube it's a bit weird yet the game has apparently sold out....

I hope they can meet the quota of copies and avoid MK shortage going to call up GAME.co.uk and find out the score if they will have the retail version available on release day
 
Time is moving fast and I can't be any happier 13days away from release about a month ago it seems like time was going in slo-mo.

I didnt like the fact that you guys didnt get the demo and yes now thinking about it pisses me off I want sektor screens
