Doesn't matter. People will be pissed either way. Roster is real = one side of people is pissed. Roster is fake = another side of people is pissed. They know that they can't please everyone. So why bother? Might as well have some fun.
 
Hulk was in Infinity War tho (I know what you mean but still), albeit briefly so can't really say they fully lied.

But what kind of PR is this? A fake leak to piss people off? Who would sign off on that? NRS has never done something like that before.

The IJ2 fake files was an obvious troll move that was placed there to make fun of hackers, this is an Acheivement list drop which historically has spoiled NRS rosters.

I get that Frost being in is a big claim, and trust me I was and still am teetering on the Fake side because of stuff like that, but I can't see a motivation that doesn't paint someone as being a straight jerk.

You're implying that trolling someone is an act of decency to begin with.
 
Yeah, either way they've already pissed people off by teasing certain things. Mentioning Reptile with that lizard before the reveal, Noob on the tower, Rain on the menu. etc. Obviously not as definitive, but it's still kind of a "we're aware of them" thing so people are definitely going to feel a bit cheated like they did in MKX with characters such as Baraka funnily enough.

Also I'm seeing people being upset that Johnny's not in the leak even though he was seen in the behind the scenes doing a thing. I highly doubt he's not in. Speaking of which, another weird thing about the leak is that the characters seem to be in alphabetical order, yet characters we know are in the game are not present.

There's different levels to trolling, NRS and I guess QLOC by extension have only really participated in playful casual trolling, the kind that you can tell it's a joke and not to take it too seriously (Like Boon and his "X Konfirmed" jokes on twitter).

Faking this list entirely would be way above what they've done before, which would be baiting people with real characters, like this doesn't feel like something they would do, and the way NRS employees have responded to it leans closer to that fact. Game developement and store implementation is a multi layered process which can have slip ups at certain points. Like I could be totally wrong here, but just like you don't feel right about it, I don't feel right about it on the opposite side.
 
I think it's very reasonable for every character leaked to have a spot in the roster. So I highly doubt it'll turn out the leak is completely fault.

The best case scenario is that the base roster ends up expanding like the character select did. Since I don't want any of the leaked characters minus maybe the unknowns to get replaced. Heck, that'd probably be the second best scenario for me. Since if you subtracted the unknowns then that easily frees up space for a decent amount of the characters that people are worried about.

Eh. That is all very subjective. Personally I don't care, if it is troll or not. If it is real. Cool. Not? Also cool. I am just waiting for official reveal. After that I can just see, how much I guessed right.

That leak is thowing me off as it is. As it doesn't have Geras to begin with. Or even Sub and Scorpion. Something is rnot right here.

EDIT: Pfu. My bad. SuB and Scorpion are in the list. But not GERAS.

It's true this leak isn't a 100 percent lock at this point, for all we know NRS could announce Kira on Thursday and blow everything out of the water, but still there's just too much conflicting info and history here for me to be super skeptical on it, like you said, all we can really do is sit back and wait for more reveals. Games gonna be fun either way (even if I still think a fake list is pointless).

To be honest. I am kinda salty about Frost actually. I mean, I won't be complaining if Frost is in the game, but I am like making a small work related to Frost, and I was all in this mood of "eh Frost is not appearing, so might as well have creative freedom with her", and now there is a chance for her to be in, and I am already done with script... so everything is kinda weird right now.
 
I'm not sure why you guys are doubting the achievements - it's normal practice for achievements to be added to Steam months before a game is released, and there is no advantage to using them as some sort of troll tactic. I'm not sure Valve would even allow this.

All evidence seems to suggest they're legit.
 
Yeah I think people are blowing this way out of proportion. People who get mad at the leak would get mad at release. Reading Ketchup's tweet makes me think the leak is legit. And it's not like steamdb is known for trolling, MK9 got leaked there with full achievements and developer commits before the game got announced on PC.
 
The issue is that if you assume the roster is 25 and the Steam leaks revealed a few new characters, there are still gaps left. So, we can still - in theory - get Fujin, Rain, Smoke, Shang and maybe even Sareena or Li Mei... I think. Someone will have to tally up the numbers, as I forget how many roster spots we have left (if you assume the Steam leak confirms Kotal, Frost, etc.)

What's the current list?

Assuming Shao Kahn takes up a spot, and assuming Kitana and Rain are confirmed, that leaves 2 spots left unleaked
 
My money is on Shang which would a) explain why Ermac is missing and b) an MK game without sorcerers?...

It's not looking good for me buying this so far, is it? :whine:

I'm only really stoked for Kotal, and he hasn't even been 100% confirmed yet. I thought the initial reveal roster was uninteresting and nothing has really wowed me since. Kabal was a nice surprise but it's not enough to win me over. If Rain and Smoke aren't in then I guess I'll just watch someone play through story mode on YT.

Totally agree with whoever it was who said about Havik having amazing potential in this game, and having his intestines burst out his stomach and wrap around the opponent. That's an amazing idea and there'd be no better character to showcase the game engine and mechanics.

So far this is just bland, and if we're getting two cryomancers but no cyborgs or sorcerers then my reaction is simply: WTF?

In a story about Evil Raiden, I don't see why a Cyborg would get in over Fujin. I wouldn't give up yet.


But this could potentially mean that we aren't getting a cyborg at all in MK11. Cyrax, Sektor, Smoke and Cyber Sub were all dlc in MKX, and they've already said they don't want to do repeat dlcs. Even then, any Cyborg at this point who isn't Triborg would just feel like a lesser version. Especially if we would be able to mix and match their special moves. Imagine having Smoke clouds and ice bombs on the same character :hail:

lol I realize I sound like a professional pessimist; I really don't mean to, it's just that I am sick of seeing these great characters with potential being passed over game after game in favour of the same uninspired characters who return with near-identical movesets. It just frustrates me. NRS need to take more risks with their rosters - MKX was (for me at least) a huge disappointment, and ultimately I only enjoyed playing about four characters, and so I ended up playing the game far less than I intended to. I still played story mode, did some online, unlocked all the skins (apart from Revenant Jax - I don't have a 2nd controller) and tried everyone on the roster, but very few of them really clicked with me.

I think most of us agree Fujin should have been in MKX, but as soon as I saw that Raiden's MK11 moveset now involves his staff I was immediately concerned that this is a suggestion that Fujin won't be in, as he'd presumably use his staff. There's also the fact that NRS clearly dislike the character and despite teasing and obvious fan demand, they aren't going to make him playable unless - and this is very unlikely to happen - there's some kind of 'play as anyone' Armageddon-type game in the future.

I just despair, frankly. At the very least I suppose there's still some hope for Rain, but I'm not holding my breath.

I just want that Reptile, god damn it. With the new gore tech the fatalities they could come up are ridiculous. His MKX ones sucked big time and I think it's because of tech limitations. I don't really like Rain since we already have Raiden so the entire lightning shtick is overplayed already. Frost is like...Sub-Zero Mk2. Big whoop.

But we're pretty much on the same page. I haven't pre-ordered either and it's not because of the roster. I'm more concerned about the actual content. It just isn't enough to put the same old Story Mode, Towers and Online and charge £59.99 for it. We had 5 games doing this already. Where's the new game modes, NRS? :boring:
