Mortal Kombat 1: Midway Arcade Deluxe Editon Question

Hi,

Last night I purchased Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe Edition online solely for the purpose of playing MK1, MK2 and MK3 on my pc which runs Windows XP. It intalled perfectly and everything runs great. I just have a few questions regarding fatalities for MK

Considering the fact that I played the game years ago (I had the Acclaim Mk1/MK2 bundle for my PC years back), I vividly remember the CPU opponents executing Fatalities after the "FINISH HIM" text flashes at the end of the 2nd fight. However after playing the Midway Arcade Deluxe edition for about 3 hours today I still haven't seen any CPU opponents execute a single fatality. I went to the Game Options part of the actual MAT Deluxe screen for MK1 and it says that blood and gore is enabled, violence is enabled etc. but STILL no fatalities. Were the fatalities removed for the Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe version, or is there another menu I can go to to toggle them on or off. I read on another site that pressing F10 and holding Shift and typing DIP opens up some menu, but I tried that and still no luck.

Hopefully someone can answer my question, as I'm dying to see all the old fatalities.
 
Well...you could try and do them yourself...instead of waiting for the CPU to do it. MK1 fatalities were fairly simple, all except for Liu Kang's...I never got the hang of his.
 
Actually I know this'll sound silly but.....I've never been able to pull off any MK1 PC fatality. I tried doing Scorpion's today (the Up Up Block one) but all that happened was Scorpion made the blocking gesture. Am I not pressing the buttons fast enough, do I need to be standing in a certain area to do fatalities? etc.
 
Yes you need to be at "Sweep" distance to do Scorpion's fatality. Just stand about 2 steps away, hold block, then tap up twice.
 
Tried that and STILL nothing. I try and try but either I'm not doing it quick enough, or am @ the wrong distance, do not have enough time, or Fatalities are not enabled in the game. Can anyone else perhaps help me?
 
So correct me if I'm wrong, but what your saying is that the reason why I haven't seen any CPU fatalities in the MAT Deluxe Edition, is because the MAT version is keeping as close to the original arcade version and keeping CPU fatalities to a minimum. Are they STILL there though? I'll be sad if I find out that I never will ever see them.

And good news. I finally pulled off the Scorpion fatality.
 
Yeah, computer fatalities don't happen too often, although they'll do the stage fatalities practically every time. They are there, yes, but realistically you're not going to see more than one or two even after playing for an extended period.

Anyway, If you're not able to consistently pull off fatalities, all you can do is practice them until you get the timing down. One bit of advice I can give is that while many people will suggest hitting the last direction of the sequence and the attack button simultaneously, that's not technically correct, even if works some of the time. You need to have a bit of delay between the two (i.e. Johnny Cage's decapitation in MK1 should be forward, forward, forward, high punch), especially in the arcade version.

Really? All I ever do is hold block and do a clockwise 360 starting with forward; works every time. I don't even think it really matters where you stand when you do it (although if you try it from too far away he'll whiff with the uppercut).

Forget about MAT. You need to look around some of the MK forums ( www.ultimatemk.com ) or other sites with the info ( www.darktemplarz.com ) to download the ROMS for use on MAME & Kaillerria and play them online as well.

There are just too many problems with the MK ports. Yeah, I guess its fun to play & better than nothing, but trust me. Not one single port of a MK released with any of the 3-D MKs, MAT & MK2 on Shaolin Monks are any good. Weird physics, buggy, and glitchy.

Besdies, who plays MK3 anymore? Thats why we have UMK3 to play! ;)

Becasue srk.com is a ****ng joke. Its the worst forum on the web. I will not put up with the ass kiss fest there.

All I ever did was help people there with tech stuff, and all I ever got was flamed, insulted, and bad mouthed by all the little ****ing babis there tha just because they paid to be a dickhead, can do and say whatever.

So I got tired of it, and tried my best to pis off as many people there who did the same to me. lol So I got a *gasp* one week ban. Which is funny, becasue I hadnt been there in 2 months, but whatever will I do with my time now? I am SO heartbroken. *sniffle, sniffle.*

The WORST thing about SF is srk.com.
