Mortal Kombat 1 General Discussion Media Thread

A lot of people criticize the variations in the fighting game community because some variations or moves are Tournament banned. I personally enjoy them because I always enjoy having different move sets to work with. I feel like MK could implement a groove system similar to Capcom vs. SNK 2 or King of Figthers 1999-2001 seeing that both have a team base system to them.
They literally had a perfect Variation system to work on. 3D Era is calling from early 2000 with changeable stances mid fight. That was perfect foundations to work on. Actually made fights feel like Martial Art fights.
 
He said the devs were upfront that player creativity and expression are at the forefront of the design philosophy. Which is a breath of fucking fresh air after MK11 locked half of all the cool moves away, or made them unequipable or require meter to do anything worthwhile.

I'm so excited to lab this game.
 
I remember making a comment about NRS was getting ready to work on Injustice 3 when it was scrapped for MK1. Well that's good news to me because that means Injustice 3 is going to melt faces. The wait is gonna suck if MK1 turns out to be another boring game.

Well looks like you won't have to wait long for I3. I just find it super funny that IJ games were used as a test bed for MK.... and now...

Well Boon did say that NRS was ''breaking the cycle'' to their previous two year development of MK than Injustice. Maybe this is what he meant.

He also said that this game isn't going to be like MK11, they're going to shake the cage, 4 years of development and it'll show, ...
 
I really hope they increase dash and/or walk speed. I was watching people try to block dash or sorta korean backdash and it was painfully slow.
 
I do think some of the gore effects look a bit off. I feel like the blood and gore in MK11 looks better so far.
In MK1 Gameplay trailer at 1:20 you can see weird damage model on Johnny Cage shirt. Half of his shirt is covered fully in blood at 45 degrees. Looks completely off.

We went from MK9 damage models, to this.

I saw Wong do it and it doesn't look too bad, the issue being when you crouch dash in say a Marvel game, you have a dedicated dash button. And when you KBD in Tekken, you can actually block while backdashing not to mention it having its own type of shortcuts. Idk if they're put these into consideration when designing this because b,b,d, b,b,d is a really cumbersome input for some wavedashes.

According to all the '' YouTube influencers'' who got to play it at SGF it doesn't play like MK11. Until we get access to the beta/demo there's no way to know for sure.
