Mortal Kombat 1 General Discussion Media Thread

I really hope they increase dash and/or walk speed. I was watching people try to block dash or sorta korean backdash and it was painfully slow.
It's not just the dash/walk speed. Some moves/assists have RIDICULOUS recovery frames. You can probably go online and pay your bills by the time some of them are finished. Dash cancelling basically doesn't exist.

There are also some people who seriously somehow compare this to MK9.....

THIS is MK9. Probably the best comeback of mine so far. The best part? It's not even half the speed that can be achieved.

There are 2 different Assist types. Summons and Ambushes. Summons are where the assist comes out and you can't move, like Kano's Eye Laser, Ambushes they come out and don't affect you at all. You can even use Ambushes as wakeup attacks.

I seen some theories of the idea that Liu Kang being the big bad at the end. Taking some ideas from Shang Tsung's MK9 ending.

Okay... what does this has to do with anything I've typed there?...

Go take a look at how long it takes to finish Kano's Throw. That's what I've meant. It's like -6666 on hit....

Yeah Kano's throw is wild af lmao. There's no reason you should have to stand there and the opponent lies there as Kano spits, shrugs, and then walks away. They def need to speed that up. Thankfully Max was there at the gameplay demonstration and he told the devs personally that they should speed some of that shit up. Max is like the figurehead of the casual FGC too, so his words def have weight to a FG dev studio

He also told that breakaways weren't the best idea for MK11. Hell, everyone told NRS that break away punish was insane. NRS never addressed that. So, don't hold your breathe for this one.

You're forgetting how slow MK11 actually was when it first was playable. During the gameplay reveal event and the betas the dashes were wildly slow and completely uncancelable. Community feedback caused NRS to fix this and now MK11 has crispy wavedashes.

They couldn't gut that entire breakaway system less than 5 months from launch. As a compromise they added armor breaking attacks to fight breakway, which worked to varying degrees. So they did address it.

People were asking for OVERHAUL at year two. Just cause you add a bandaid, doesn't mean you addressed the actual problem. Did they add some changes? Sure. Did they mean anything in the end...?
Well let me check what people say about MK11 now... hot garbage. Riiiight. And you don't have to rip entire system to fix these problems. Sheeva stomp was greatest example of how few fucks they give... fixed after a year and once they got embarrassed by someone winning 10k Stream tournament, while abusing that move. Someone who cared, would have actively worked on balancing the game and didn't keep people in the dark for months.
Unfortunately, that ain't NRS. Their "support" is simple. Do some updates in the first 2 months. Then months of silence. Increase activity when launching Kombat Pack, then months of silence once again. Rinse and repeat, Until they just say "Welp. We are ending support. Bye." And even when NRS does their "patches", their changes usually are miniscule or even laughable in some cases. You're forgetting how players were mocking NRS for their crappy "support" on MK11, while SFV was getting 20 pages long balance patches.

I loved how some people tried to defend NRS for their crappy support though. "Well they aren't as big as CAPCOM! CAPCOM has entire division working on it! NRS doesn't have the manpower to do constant updates like that."
Then turn around and scream "Biggest budget, made most money!"

NRS was never punished for their shitty behavior, so they see no reason to be better. Cause they know that people will forget what happened and even start defending them, once they will throw a new MK, like a sausage to a pack of starved dogs.

Meh, I doubt it will do much towards MK1. MK is a bigger brand name and has a different auddience for it.

lots of casual audience, that buys MK, don't buy it for fighting, but casual content like story mode. If there is something better, they will pick that instead. We are in recession, so people will be choosing for what they will be paying 70 bucks.
And Starfield, doesn't need to match MK in brand recognition. People are interested in it, cause it is Bethesda doing it. And people are already expecting a Space Skyrim.

You know. Skyrim. The one that dwarfs MK in sales, player base and community? So yeah. Unless Starfield is broken like crazy, a lot of people will be spending their annual allowance on Starfield.

Also MK1 still has to show something that makes it worth 70 bucks.

Seeing how involved the Kameo system is, with all of them having intros, outros, fatalities, throws and supers, I'm totally fine with any of my favorite characters being stuck as a Kameo. Plus isn't this what you wanted? Obvs we haven't seen the roster yet, but it looks like a lot of the Kameos are classic characters. Potentially saving the roster slots for 3d era bums.
You really think Sonya, Kano and Jax are going to skip a game after being in MK9, MKX and MK11? Not likely, imo.
NRS has had the OG7, Kitana, Jax and Kung Lao on every single main MK roster.
Those are their "must-have" characters for every single game,

Stryker? Yeah, even NRS doesn't give enough of a shit about him to make him playable in either MKX or MK11.
Other obvious ones for kameos.......Motaro and Ferra / Torr since you can't do Fatalities on Motaro or Ferra.

Also, the other kameos are for characters like Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Kung Lao who are all on the main roster.
Boon confirmed being able to use Scorpion with a Scorpion kameo, Sub-Zero with a Sub-Zero kameo (and they showed his Spine Rip) and Kung Lao's MKII kameo was also shown in the gameplay trailer.
It really wouldn't be that surprising (imo) if all of the klassic MK1 and MKII characters are on the roster AND all have klassic kameos since kameos seem to be the way that they do klassic Fatalities in this game.
That's 14 characters and then people were also wanting others like Smoke, Sektor and Cyrax to be in MK11, so that severely limits it then to 17 possible klassic characters and if there are new characters that limits the amount of post-MK3 / 3D era ones being in even more.

Starfield will be a broken pile of shit at release but because it's bethesda it will get a free pass. I love it when people say ''that's part of the charm bruh!''. Skyrim was broken trash at release as well. If it weren't for the PC modding community that game would have got shit on like redfall.

You're not saying anything new. I was watching that 45 minute video and I was already thinking. "Ok, now how badly this shit is gonna render at launch?" I imagine major performance issues too. Hell I saw couple of scenes, where frames dropped to 30 and less, during trailer itself.

Though you're wrong about one thing. Just cause game has modding support, doesn't mean shit. You do realize you can mod RedFall? Files don't have any special encryption on them. Nobody is doing shit about it, though. Why? Game itself is shit. Not worth investing time. Hell, when the game is good, people will find a way to mod it. MK9 is one of most modding unfriendly games. People spent YEARS trying to crack the game, so they can add custom made models (not just swap existing ones). Game was worth the investment.

Same with Skyrim. The idea itself, is what attracted people. That full freedom in a living world. And there is direct modding support with official modding tools? Yes please. And people STILL play and mod the game to this day.

And for all of the flaws with Bethesda games. They never lied about the amount of content and features the games will have. Not once, from what I remember. When you saw a feature or an element in the game, you knew you will find it, in the game. Though a lot of times, it would be broken at launch.

Unlike games, like Cyberpunk 2077, that was a complete fucking lie. You will have this, and that! There will be bounty system, there will be police chases and other shit! Nope. None of that.
Though don't get a wrong idea. I am in no way justifying this behavior. Regardless if it is Bethesda or anyone. I hate this "launch now, fix later" mentality. But the thing is... Even my skeptical me, was moved by that 45 minute video. So much stuff, so many possibilities. I know they will deliver on features, but game will be broken as fuck. Though if it will be in better condition, than Fallout 76, I will already consider that as a win.

And if they will release modding tools with the game.... That's it. This will be a Space Skyrim. Hell I will be modding in that game.

Not just that... One guy created a completely rebalanced version of the game, which imo, is far more impressive than even mesh mods. Now that's hardcore dedication.

I suppose having a "dead" game comes with its perks.... No updates that screw around with it. 🤣

I really am loving almost everything I'm seeing about this game. Sub-Zero being Bi Han again is nut worthy. The last MK movie proved it yet again, but Sub Zero is at his best when he's evil. Also the touch that this is pretty much Saibot Zero, and he's extremely proficient in clones is such a great detail.

My $2 about how the story goes:
Starts with MK11 Lui ending, Lui changes everything.... but not really.... Characters are now different, but not really.... Bunch of fights, evildoer appears, Lui keeps collecting L's, by the end he's basically Rayden from MK9, then throws in the towel and makes Rayden back into a gawd, who then returns everything back to the way it was.

Roll the credits and announce Injustice 3.

Sounds so stupid, that I can see NRS doing it.

Seeing Bi Han again is definitely one of the upsides of the new timeline being made. I hope we get to see more out of the fued between Scorp and him done in an interesting way.
