Mortal Komabt 9 vs MK1, 2 and 3

Once MK9 comes out i will be balls deep in it. Nevertheless, I still have MK 1-3 for super nintendo lol. Classic games like those should not be forgotton

It won't replace them, no, but I hope beyond hope that I will hold it in the same regards as them. Those three games are the only ones in the series I regularly revisit, and I would love for MK9 to be the fourth.

MK9 isn't even meant to be a replacement, it's just an update.

To say it's JUST an update is unfair to say the least. Then would have been enough to release just the MK HD collection since almost two years in the works make MK9 just an update right? Same result with less expense.

I'm pretty sure MK9 will be the best MK game and will surpass every previous title in every field.

It's sort of like apples and oranges, innit? It may look they same, but they clearly play differently. MK2 plays nothing like UMK3, and UMK3 looks to play not much like this new one, yeah? It's sort of like being in a relationship and s/he gets bumped on the head, losing their memory. They might look the same and you might know their naughty bits, but they're still different.

Nah, MK9 is another game entirely.

I'll still be playing the first three games for a long time. I've got all three games for Genesis still, I have them on ROM and if MKHD comes out, I'll get that too.

MK9 will be played for about two years. But the replay of MK9 and the old MK1,2,3 will obviously be up for replay.

Probably, after many hours playing MK9, when I get to my sister's house, I'll probably steal her DSi and play UMK3 for a while.

Yeah, MK9 will be perfect, but the classics are classic...

I might like MK 2011 better than all games and play with it more than the others but I will be playing the classic trilogy and MKDA-MKA from time to time. I'm playing MKvsDCU now also but when the new MK comes out, I will trade it in. Also, once I figure out a way to play my MK Gold, I'll play it too. I'm just a big MK fan that way.

Absolutely not. The new game will definitely have a huge appeal but it will never have the classic, nostalgic feel of the original games.

Fighting games in general don't keep me occupied for more than 2 week before I move on. This has been true of every MK game since MK4, and pretty much any other fighting game I have played in the past decade. I seriously hope this game changes that for me, but I don't expect it to. However, I will ALWAYS return to the originals for fun, nostalgic play. There's a certain feeling about them that no modern MK can ever hope to capture.
