MKX: The MK8 that we never got?

When i first saw ''Mortal Kombat X'' i thought it could be like in math that X can be an unespecific number because of this discussion on the numbering.Ed never said anything about this meaning to X,probably never thought about it.
In the end,the devs call their games what they want to.The GTA series is a famous case of problems in the logic of the numbering.

Wrong, sir.

Ed has said the X stands for many things such as "next gen of consoles, next gen of MK", and simply "10" as in the 10th installment.

Yeah... There's definitely lack of something to discuss about this game if there's going to be debates about what number this iteration is within the MK series.

In hindsight, If they made MK8 after Armageddon with all new characters etc. etc. then we would've had ALL THE OLD CHARACTERS BACK by now since many fans (and their money) would've walked away from the franchise if that happened. Remember what the REAL reason MKD and MKA tanked? I do.

Except Deadly Alliance sold 3.5 million copies. And Armageddon had all of the Trilogy era characters.

He didn't mention DA, but those games barely tanked, they just got complained about because obsessive people tried play the games at a level they were not intended to be enjoyed at.

From what I remember that MKD got a lot of good reviews when it came out since the game got a 8.8/10 on IGN and a 8.5/10 on Gamespot. It even won GameSpot named it the best fighting game of E3 2004. The game is hardly a flop.

I think none of the Mortal Kombat games beside Special Forces has ever been commercial failure. In fact they've all been pretty profitable.
