MKAK Visual Filters/Styles (Slow internet, Beware)

I've taken some screen shots for those who don't have the game yet and want to compare the visual styles in each game.

There are 5 styles in total:
- Klassic (Default)
- Painted 1 (All visuals have an oil painting appearance)
- Painted 2 (Same as above, slightly different)
- Smoothed (Classic sprites with added smoothing)
- Arcade (Scan lines added)

I suggest opening each image in a new tab for easier comparison, or saving them on your computer.

...We also can't forget about the true arcade experience....

Bro, Im sorry to say! But this so called "Kollection" is NOT the TRUE arcade experience! These 3 games are CRAP! Definitely NOT ARCADE PERFECT (BIG TIME SOUND/MUSIC screw-ups for each game, not to mention all the in-game glitches)! Im very dissapointed! VERY!

But I get what your saying about it being the "true arcade experience" BECAUSE of how the screen is bulged and rounded like that... as if it were in an arcade cabinet. I'm very disappointed with the quality of this VERY POORLY emulated game!

screen filters and placement...

Hi, I just wanted to post this thread about the placement of the screen with the arcade filter.
Why is this side of the screen cut(marked with red lines)? That's an easy fix, I hope the devs fix it, because it looks very bad.

Just look at what Capcom did for it's arcade release of Final Fight, looks 10 times better and the scanlines filter is also better

PS. Johhny Cage is missing on the arcade machine, here's how the side of the machine should look

"True Arcade Experience" MY ASS

Re: screen filters and placement...

This mortal kombat collection is a VERY BAD PORT.Too many problems, and too little respect for die hard mk fans...Capcom who has a very bad reputation with DLC and milking their franchises, gave us Super street fighter 2 turbo HD Remix and it was almost perfect.A true HD remix it was. Here we were expecting it,and in the end we get a very bad port of mame editions who have lag online, input latency, bugs, pause problems, sound crippled.............What you have mentioned is just another example of this lazy port...I ll go back in my pc to explore these games through mame, and keep playing mk9 in my ps3...

Re: screen filters and placement...

Thanks, It' just little things like that that bugg me, how can they miss to put Johhny Cage on the arcade machine?
Also, the scanlines don't bend like they should when the arcade cabinet filter is on, they don't go along the screen, they just stay flat.
It looks cheap as hell!

They haven't had johnny on the side for years. Look at the arcade that drops on mk3, no johnny. I guess they cannot put him on there.

Re: screen filters and placement...

Wow, that final fight shot looks really good! I wish emulators like MAME had this kind of overlay option in them.

Yeah the MKAK filter doesn't even have proper rounded corners like a real MK RGB monitor has.

Re: screen filters and placement...

Danny (Johnny Cage) isn't on the side because he was removed after he sued for royalties over the console versions of the game because he wasn't fairly taken care of. I can understand: I wouldn't want my image used either, without me being paid for my work.
But this is why it is that way.

Re: screen filters and placement...

I don't have the side bars on my screen when I play. Do I need to change my display settings on my PS3 or in game settings to see them?

Is your TV widescreen? The sidebars only appear when the game is played in widescreen to fill in the unused space due to the game's aspect ratio.

Oh yeah, indeed! I'd been wondering what's up with that... screen doesn't look right when using the cabinet option... feels like we're missing a whole chunk of screen to the right.

And you're right about the scanlines too. Scanlines in MK:AK look uneven, they don't have that "clean CRT" look that Final Fight has. Hope they fix that, or if it's on purpose, add an "Arcade 2" option with even scanlines.

I have a Vizio 26' LCD HDTV. Even after switching from 4:3 to 16:9 on my PS3 settings I still don't get the sidebars.

MK:AK is 720p, so look if you have that resolution checked on the PS3's display settings. Because if you don't, it'll run at 480p.
