MK9/NRS Appreciation Thread

Sometimes we as a community of MK fans get a little....heated....in our feelings. That's ok, after all we're all passionate about MK as a whole, but I think it's also time to step back and give the NRS team their due.

Yes, some things with the game aren't perfect, but they did resurrect the series from an uncertain fate after Midway went down in flames. Not only has MK9 brought back the series to a whole new generation of fans, it also was designed to appeal to the old school fans as well not only with game play but with things like classic costumes and updated versions of old school fatalities/stages.

Anyone who follows Ed Boon on Twitter sees some of the things he retweets from angry fans who blame him for everything under the sun, like Kenshi being late on XBox being proof of some conspiracy where NRS is punishing XBL users instead of the obvious reason of the release date being a day after a holiday pushing the schedule back. He brushes it off saying he's just having fun with the angry ones, but it still paints MK fans as ingrates who act entitled when not that long ago it wasn't certain there'd be any more MK games.

So what I'm attempting to do here is create a little space of positivity here for those who are having fun with MK9, warts and all. Kind of like the thread version of a Friendship if you will...

ed boon owns all . thats all i gotta say. mk2 is still the best game in the franchise and ed boon owns and he brought back the game with mk9 .... very good game but mk2 i find the best all time.... i cant wait for the klassic fightstick + mk1 mk2 umk3 ..... im buying 2 classic fightsticks lol arcade feel at home cant ****in wait.
 
I agree, NRS catches too much flak for secondary things like DLC and online play.
The good is overlooked far too much.

I for one am very happy with the game and NRS. Yeah there are somethings that could have been done differently. But let's look at the facts.

NRS is still a young company under the watchful eye of Warner Bros. There is a lot of opportunity for growth and development.

Ressurecting the franchise was much needed and probably inevitable. It's the first MK game on this generation consoles, things weren't gonna be perfect.

With Mortal Kombat being back in the spot light (which it never left IMO) opens the window for more MK related Media. Tv shows, movies, and other possible spin offs.

Some of us a fans expect to much and can be selfish in knowing what is best for MK. So let's not forget that the folks over at NRS busted their ass for over a year to allow you to rant and rave about , your character getting nerfed, your character left out, glitches , spammers, or whatever.

So I say Thank You too Ed and all of the staff at NRS for making Mortal Kombat possible. With out you or the previous Midway staff I probably would be a Street Fighter fan... Ugh I shiver at the thought.

Exactly. I'm an xbox player and seeing people go bat-poop crazy at Ed and NRS for stuff that was clearly not their fault (xbox not getting an exclusive or demo, or the DLC being a day late). It did kind of annoy me, but all the people who are all "f u Ed and NRS never gonna pay a dime for MK again cauze ur on Sonys nutz" are frankly embarrassing to me as a gamer and a MK fan.

Legit complaints should be aired, but flaming the developers for stuff out of their control is weaksauce. Especially a group like the MK team who are very involved with their fans in an industry where a lot of game devs either ignore their fans or hold them in disdain.
 
People overreact. NRS is doing a great job. The only thing I hate is this weird desynching so much that started for me but otherwise MK9 is godly
 
Pretty much everything I was looking for in my Mk game.This game while not exactly like the older stuff definetly brings back that old Mk feeling that isn't replaceable.

Great job NRS!

Now lets get Motaro in the boss lineup!
 
Cheers for NRS and the entire MK staff. Idd frustrations rise up a lot about nothing (yeah me too) MK (2011) rules... was gonna type some more but I just got a work related call, pfff l8erz. and a lil edit: MK rules (all of them) with everything in it. Supportin the bloodshed since 1992 when I was 10 and spent a shitload on coins at the arcades. NRS, ex Midway Boon LUV YOU GUYS!!!!!
 
yes, props to nrs for bringing the making the series relevant and i love the tag team addition, even though not a lot of people like it. the gameplay is excellent but there are some major flaws with the game still, mainly the bugs and online.
1. i don't know if anybody else cares but i still would like to see my connection outside of koth and the chat rooms.
2. player matches should not have your record posted. it basically is the same as ranked.
3. compatibility patches NEED to be mandatory to play online.
 
Thank you NRS and MK TEAM for an EXCEPTIONAL JOB! You have brought Mortal Kombat BACK from the grave from which MK:Armageddon once put it! KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK! SERIOUSLY!

I havent had this much fun with a fighting game since MK2 back in 93, truly an exceptional game in most regards regards.

Yeah the online is not perfect, but i am sure it will get corrected soon enough.

and also thanks to the staff that made this game possible.
now lets get some more dlc...hmmmm, Tremor FTW haha
Yeah i would love to see the vision for him, so far they have not disappointed me and my kids and my friends with this awesome game.

this game is so good, that the copy of L.A. Noir is still wrapped up, havent touched it yet lol

oh and please Mr. NoobDe, make yourself into a character :D
i love love to have a fatality and or a special move revolving around that man uni-braw :D
 
I feel like I got my money's worth in MK 9.
Love the game, and all the extra stuff that NRS isplanning for DLC, post release.
 
in my humble opinion even wit certain issues game wise its still the most playable fun ADDICTIVE game ive played since ocarina of time and thats sayin somethin
 
I was a griper, but now that I can play online with my friends lag free, I'm throwing lots of love at NRS. I will continue to support them in all the DLC and any future MK projects they are involved with. Thanks for making good on your promise of a great online exp NRS!

Thank you Ed Boon and NRS for making such a great game and going back to 2D. Im so loving MK9 and story mode is just awesome. MK9 is the best MK game in the series. MK9 and UMK3 are the best MK games in the series. Im so glad to be an MK fan and supported all your MK games. Great job on the game. Definitely got my money's worth for it.
