MK3 on MAT2 - Sub-Zero's Overhead Freeze fatality not working

Hi guys,

been replaying MK3 on Midway Treasures 2 for PS2 and have some trouble making Subbie's fatality work, even if it's the simplest of all -> BLK-BLK-RN-BLK-RN (at close range)

The Ice Breath works perfectly, but the Overhead Freeze... damn...

Any hints or tricks for this one? Never had this problem in the arcades...

thanks for any assistance given.

There's certainly no trick to it. I have MAT2 for the Xbox, but even using the triggers to perform the fatality never gave me any problems. Maybe, as thexx25 alluded to, the button configuration simply isn't right. Also, assuming both R buttons are block and both L buttons are run, perhaps you should just try a different combination (i.e. use R2 R2 L2 R2 L2 instead of R1 R1 L1 R1 L1; try R1 R1 L2 R2 L2, etc.). I do know that, using MAME with a controller on my PC, it's possible to come across instances where certain moves won't work with certain button configurations (for example, using a Sega-style six-button controller for MK2 that would place two block buttons in the middle, Sub-Zero's slide won't work as back+A+B+C, but it will work as back+A+Y+C).

If all else fails, try speeding up or slowing down the rhythm.

Thanks for the response guys!!

It is possible to change the button configuration, which I did as I'm playing with a 6-button style controller. Can not seem to get a nice playflow on a DualShock controller... I used to play MK1 to UMK3 on a Sega MegaDrive/Genesis with a 6-button style controller so that's the only way I like my classics... :D

Maybe I'll have to give Tim Static's idea a try... add one more Block to it at the beginning of the sequence...

I'll let you know if it works...

So I gave Tim's idea a try and finally got it to work...

I actually have to keep going forword and put in the sequence... otherwise it won't work...

Thanks guys for your help
