MK vs DC playability= MK9

I thought MK VS DC's mechanics were just fine. I felt like it was the unbalanced moves of the characters in the game. Even though MK9 doesn't look as similar to MKvsDC, I'm sure it will have minor relevances.

By the looks of it, many people actually enjoyed the gameplay of MK vs. DC. What ultimately made the game a fail is the fact that the major restrictions NRS had to make (toned down blood, T rating, Heroic Brutality, etc.) totally shunned the gameplay. Now we have a game that does not have those restrictions in place and is somewhat an upgraded version of MK vs. DC in terms of mechanics (completely 2D, more fluid combos, extended "custom" combos) therefore this should be a instant hit in my eyes.

It somewhat looks similar, in terms of animation and move properties but it is all more fluid in MK9. Haven't exactly played MK9 so I can't judge how it is exactly, but MKvsDC was okay (you know, sans online and infinites) gameplay-wise.

I still play MKvsDCU, and it's a lot of fun to play. The mechanics is not bad, I like the way we can cancel those Dial-a-combo into special moves at any time, actually I think this was one of the most important upgrades from the other 3D games, as it allowed more freedom for combos.

The problems with MKvsDCU gameplay are Klose and Freefall kombat, glitches, bad control response and unbalanced characters and special moves *scorpion teleport*.

MK vs DC's lack of blood and gore didn't bother me, it was the lack of extras like alternate costumes and unlockables.

COOL..this is more like it... adult rational discussions!!.. last 2 pages is the kinda thing i was hoping this thread would be all about..! (bar titties :)
So MOST people do actually like the game mechanics in MKvsDC.. for the most part... thanks for your input fellas!

If it doesn't feel sort of stiff I will be happy. I don't know what it was about MK vs DC but I hated the slow and clunky feeling. I am hoping for more of an old school fluid feeling.

You knew I was lurking this place;). And yes I agree with you. I didn't like it one beat. The only thing there was to unlock was endings and Shao Kahn and that Darkseid dude.

Titties.

I actually rather enjoyed MK vs DCU. It was a surprise because I hate 3D fighters, but the whole "Kreate your own kombos" thing made me fall in love with the series again (which is why I did a jump for joy when I heard that this one would be 2D).

I was highly disappointed with the lack of Reptile, though, at LEAST. You would have thought he would have been added on principle of being the First Unlock Character, EVAR!

OP is 100% correct IMO... and I agree that MK vs DC was on the right track, only for them to ruin it with Klose Kombat, freefall etc. Luckily they're not doing any of those lame gimmicks this time around. But the basic physics of the game, I liked, and I don't mind that the general feel is coming back.

And MK9 does even look a little smoother than MK vs DC...
