MK HD Kollection

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Hmm... I really hope it's on disc. Anyway wouldn't it being DLC mean it's going to be a huge download? The original 3 games are about 600MB total. But adding in the updated graphics would make it more than double that size. at the least. And the MK9 demo would have to be separate, or else it would be over a 2.5GB download. Not too feasible. I don't really see it coming on anything other than disc.

Like any other game that can be downloaded, yes, it would take some time and take up a bit of room. Regarding the MK9 demo, that hasn't been confirmed.... then again, neither has the game. Damn.

Including the MK9 demo in my mind is a must. It will raise sales of both the Kollection and MK9 in a huge way. A lot of regular/casual MK fans would wait for it get cheaper before buying it, but with the demo, it's bought on the 1st day. Some of the more hardcore fans even on this board see it as a huge selling point for themselves.

The demo is the main reason they would even come out with a Kollection only 5 months away from another major MK release. Or else they would take away sales from each other. But with the demo, they're actually helping each other out.

It worked exactly the same for the God of War Collection. It had the first 2 games, and an exclusive code to download the demo of GOW3 on PSN, before the demo came out to the public. This helped sell the collection, and raised anticipation for the new game coming out.

I would bet $300 that if the Kollection does comes out this month or next, it will include a MK9 demo code.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

After listening to the new MKast, I was obviously sad there was no mention of the HD Kollection.... well, not directly, anyway. Listen to this part HERE.

I think I know what he meant, but assuming the HD Kollection is to be released in less than 2 weeks, is that a wise thing to say?

I can't open the video at the moment. Could you quote what is being said please?

I don't think that has any relation to the HD Kollection, since it's very likely that they are not the developers of the Kollection. It's likely that only Boon from the NR team oversees anything and has any involvement with the Kollection developer, and WB handles the overall progress.

The only thing that the designer meant when he said that, was is in relation to a new entry to a MK series, not to a kollection or update of older games. New games in the MK series always change a lot in design and gameplay. There has been no new MK game that has not been drastically different than the one before it. Except for Ultimate, but that was made to be an update of 3, not a new entry. The designer is definitely right - if MK9 was UMK3 gameplay-wise with updated graphics and fatalities, it would be fun, but not a new entry to the series at all. Why would you spend $60 for a remake of 1 game when you can get a remake of 3 games for $40 five months sooner? ;) That's why they have to make it different gameplay-wise.

Basically, he says, "I don't think people would be interested in just playing an old game with new graphics." Now, it's being said in regards to how they changed up MK9 with a front/back punch and front/back kick, among other things. But the comment itself made me think about the HD Kollection, which, in essence, is just old games with new graphics. Uh oh.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

kergon is right.
The developer for this game isn't NetherRealm.
It's rumored to be "Backbone," which was also in charge of the MK II and UMK3 PS3 / 360 ports.

Also, Ed Boon isn't the one who is over-seeing the development process for the HD Kollection.

Carlos Pesina (who is in charge of all the MOKAP for the MK games) is the one helping out with that process, since it's being re-shot with new actors.

Don't worry, I understood what he was referencing when he said it, but don't you see how it could be taken the wrong way from a fan's standpoint? Just thought it was interesting to hear when the HD Kollection is possibly less than 2 weeks away.

While Ed may not be overseeing the development in a major way, you don't think he'd be involved even slightly? I mean, those 3 games are really his legacy. I would think if he didn't have some input on them, he'd at least like to make sure nothing was drastically changed or done the wrong way. I don't know, though.

I hear ya dude. :-|
It's VERY upsetting to hear that when the game is *supposedly* less than 2 weeks from coming out.

I have faith that the HD Kollection is being made, but it's the release date that I question.
It's starting to look like Gran Turismo 5, as far as the release date goes.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

I dunno about this "supposedly" less than two weeks away. I'm from Brazil, and I have a game magazine that shows dates of future game releases for the next months, and there was MK HD Kollection, scheduled to be released in December 30th. I've some images on the links below.

Oh, please don't compare it to GT5 ... I mean, hopefully it won't be that drastic. It's cool if it must be delayed so they can make sure it's perfect. Honestly, if it is delayed, I can't imagine it being for too long. The games themselves are basically done... they just needed to polish up the backgrounds, add special effects, add the new sprites and minor fixes here and there.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

I said that, because for the last 3 days, www.overstock.com has had this posted http://www.overstock.com/Books-Movi...RTAL-KOMBAT-HD-ARCADE-KO/5246702/product.html, and it hasn't been taken down yet.

Not only that, but just about every day, I'm finding new websites that are putting up new listings for the game which also show that date (though, I've also seen some with various other dates). The fact that we're getting closer and the database is still showing November 16 has to mean something. I don't think it'll get down to November 15 and one WB exec says to the others, "Hey guys, you know what.... about that deadline tomorrow.... uh, we have a problem." No, they know right now whether the game can and will be released on the 16th. Now if they know it won't and have chosen not to notify whoever is in charge of the upcoming games release date database, then that's unprofessional. But I wouldn't put it past them, sadly.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Hey guys I'm a longtime MKO member but have been following this forum for a while and just decided to join to discuss this, since MKHD is getting no attention on the MKO boards, and because TRMK is just a great website period.

You have to wonder with so many websites opening up the option for preorder payments, and some actually accepting preorder payments, that these retailers are going to have to crack soon when customers start asking what exactly there money's going to. To invest money in something that's coming out in 12 days, without any official confirmation of the product, takes a lot of faith in the retailer selling the product. I think in this way, the retailer has a responsibility of product reassurance to their customers. So if anybody has preordered this game, start pushing for answers!

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Does anyone know why this game is ps3 only? I just can't see why such a popular title is an exclusive

From what I've heard, it will only be PS3 exclusive initially and then, after a while, be available on XBOX Live via DLC (just rumor, though.... just as the game is, lol).

Hopefully that is true... i dont want to have to get a PS3 just for MK...
