Mileena Thread - "Let Us Dance!"

Kinda ironic how I once predicted that Mileena would be the most played online because of her nearly-nude flesh pits costume. Now, she's actually the 5th least played character on Xbox Live, 4th on PSN.

5th? Sheesh I don't know. I have like 900 matches played and I only faced no more than 5 Mileenas :(

Well, if you play against me online (PSN), and are one of the rare people that don't use Ermac, you'll be facing Mileena. Mileena FTW! She doesn't do much damage but her combo's are dirty and satisfying, not a fan of the Flesh Pits alt though.

Agree about the Flesh Pit alternate, not so good IMO. It's all about costume 2 for me.

So how should I rate Johnny Cage, Nightwolf, Shang Tsung, Kitana, and Kano on the Matchups Section? I was thinking maybe a 3 or 4 for JC and NW, a 3 for ST, and the rest I'm unsure.

Well, I would put Kitana 3 and Kano 4.

Kitana has a very good arsenal against Mileena, but, if she fails in delivery all good moves, she can have trouble dealing with Mileena speed. I think is a very good match between these 2 ladies, very balanced if the 2 players have skill.

Kano, in other hand, is hard .... he can be defensive in order to avoid Mileena Roll Ball, but, Mileena hardly could win a projectile dispute, since Kano's knife is the second fastest projectile in the game, only losing for Stryker gun. Kano can counter attack well with his up ball against Mileena , and, decide to play waiting for Mileena to fail a teleport , and fire back with up ball. Kano can give hard time to Mileena if he caught her in the corner ..... Mileena has more chance if stay outside the corners, and , make Kano miss his up balls, it's a hard match.

Okay, but what about Johnny Cage or Nightwolf?

Okay, but what about Johnny Cage or Nightwolf?

I think a match against both is even, maybe a little harder against a skilled Nightwolf ..... Johnny is the best rushdown character in the game, he is a machine approching and coming to fight, but, Mileena as well if she decides to leave behind the counter-attack nature, and go toe-to-toe, if both decide to rushdown the entire match and Johnny does unforgiven mistakes, he can be put himself in a very vulnerable position, missing lots of flip kicks, so, it's a very even match, 3 points.

Nightwolf has more tools, and can act as a zoner against Mileena, so, depends the level of skill the players behind him put in the match. Nightwolf, in my opinion, is , overall , the most complete character in the game, having weapons to deal with a lot of different situations. Could be 3 , and sometimes 4.

Okay, what about Shang Tsung?

Shang Tsung, overall, base his strategy in forcing the enemy to stay at distance, and , he trust in his fireskull game, very complete and dangerous, so, Mileena can have hard time approching in the floor, the erupt skulls can deny her roll ball, the high up skulls, can hit her teleport if timed correctly, and , the normal projectiles can find Shang Tsung triple fire skull, so, this make hard time to approach Shang .... but if Mileena pick Shang once or twice in the corner, Shang has hard time with Mileena speed, and her deadly split kick ......

Remember, only takes one ball roll that sucessful hit, or one split kick, or just one Boot Down to connect, to start some decent Mileena basic combos, and , plus her speed and mixed game, she can deal with Shang normally only in short distance ............

I would put 4 for Shang.

Okay, but what about Johnny Cage or Nightwolf?

I can't speak about Nightwolf because I haven't fought enough of them to make an accurate assessment.

As for Cage, I haven't had too many problems with him at all. If he shadow kicks, you can use ball roll and start up a combo. Most Cage users like to do his somersault kick upon wake up, so anticipate that and start your tele-kick and you can knock him out of that. If Cage starts spamming projectiles, ball roll again. I find Cage to be a pretty good match up for Mileena because he lacks a really good way to bum rush her...he can't just spam shadow kick to get in close and if he starts dashing you can unleash a few sai throws to slow him down.

If he gets you backed into a corner though, I've found it pretty difficult to get out of that situation. You're just going to have to hold the block button and try to weather his combos and wait for an opening to counter or ball roll and send him into the corner.

Like I said, I haven't had a lot of problems with Cage, but that's just my two cents, someone else may have entire different experiences with him.

Oh, something neat that I've found with Mileena as well that works (for me) about 3/4 of the time and, while not specifically making a longer combo, I have been able to chain together 2 combos: When I use a combo that ends in a ball roll and doesn't pop the enemy way up, I've been able to come out of my ball roll while the enemy is still on the ground and, with proper timing (I usually perform a dash as soon as I get out of my ball roll for timing purposes), if you use her boot down attack you can catch the enemy right as they are getting up but before they can do anything which allows you to start up your favourite boot down combo...so in essence you're able to link together two combos for some massive damage.

Give it a try, it's quite satisfying when it connects and it usually does for me.

@Yohoho
Also, Johnny Cage can't really compete with Mileena in a projectile war, due to his projectile having a somewhat slow recovery.

Kano & Kung Lao are our hardest fights my experience & opinion and this upcoming patch is going to make them much easier as we will now be able to do splits or roll etc starting a nice combo after blocking upball.

Actually I'd say that Noob and CSZ are Mileena's hardest matchups. Although Kung Lao can seem overwhelming at times, he can be managed if you know what to do. Kano on the other hand, is a very tough matchup, I will agree.

CSZ is hard, indeed.

Teleport against Mileena's Teleport Kick or Ball Roll, Ice Parry against Teleport Kick, Ball Roll , Split Kick, Boot Down and normal combos. Ice ball against Sais Thrown. And some zoner game using his EX Ice Bombs mixed with Ice Blast. Dive kick ultra dangerous that can be used against Sai Thrown, and when Mileena is recovering of a missed/blocked Ball Roll ......

And I'd say noobsaibot is one of the easiest to beat and CSZ is harder then regular SZ but there both walks in the park to me.

You shouldnt be rolling into CSZs parry or ever be getting zoned by CSZ. If it's a turtle you zone him and if he's good you keep pressure and mix it up around his parry.

Regular sub is mileenas easiest fight in the entire roster by leaps and bounds. Reptile possibly right there with SZ. Noobsaibot is a faceroll of a win.

That might just be me
