MadCatz Mortal Kombat FightStick Announced (with video)

I'm actually more interested in this than the official stick, only because I prefer the size of the TE and the Japanese parts. Either way, this gives people more options.

The buttons look like their kinda in a weird position.

They are closer to an astro/blast city layout:

Definitely not impressed with how it looks. Buttons look awkward. I'll definitely be sticking to the stick that comes with the TE.

Its not a stick, its a panel you put onto an existing panel.

MarkMan and Mad Catz make great stuff. Ill buy and support, its a weird layout so i'll have to try it before i judge.

if i like it, then i'll get an AIAB made with that new layout.

Last night I switched my order from the Tournament Edition to Kollector's edition (360), and added the standard PS3 version to my order. Already have two dual modded MadCatz TE sticks, and one has a panel replacement with the MK layout. I'm not really sure I could play with Happ parts anymore anyway. Too used to Sanwa. This MadCatz MK panel layout looks funky as shit, but I'll probably pick one up and give it a shot.

Yes, it's just a replacement panel.

Ed at AIAB is a great guy (very helpful too!) and his sticks are solid, but the price$ reflect that.

The layout looks awkward. Not to mention I don't have the SFTE anyway. Surely we can change the buttons on the Official MKTE to Sanwa also.

It would need some heavy modification unless the top panel is 1/2" thick or less. Sanwa screw-ins aren't very long, unlike Happ buttons that are made for wood panels. And changing the joystick to a Sanwa JLF would require the same treatment (milling/routing out material from the bottom of the top, wooden panel). Totally possible, but not for everyone.

Nice find! I was wondering how they got around the licensing issue, but I guess not having anything Mortal Kombat related on it and spelling "Combat" with a "C" takes care of that.

So if there is no run button in the new MK, why even keep the old run button in the same place? Seems like a straight or curved 6-button layout would be fine. Of course, playing UMK3 is a different story...
