Limewire Hits Back Hard: Sues RIAA For Antitrust And Consumer Fraud

Last month, the RIAA sued Limewire after Limewire wouldn't agree to simply roll over and pretend the RIAA's interpretation of the Supreme Court decision in the Grokster case was actually what the Supreme Court said. The court actually said that services could be found liable, if they were shown to actively induce infringement. The RIAA and the MPAA pretended this meant that any file sharing network that had unauthorized content was flat-out illegal. Of course, that's a bit of a stretch.

I stopped using Limewire ages ago, dude. Infact, I rarely use P2P clients these days. But that news is interesting. Remember Napster? Man, that was the shit way back then.

Yeah Napster was all the rage. I remember when everyone was using Kazza untill they got burned.

Kazza was FULL of Spyware. Even the later released Kazza Lite was Spywar ridden. I uninstalled and deleted every last remnant of it. Bleh! Also, Bearshare was huge at one time. The entire Nutella [no not the food] was big as well. I think that over the last few years I've tried at least 8-10 P2P programs. Now, I very rarely use any.

I never use them, just because of the risk of viruses and the like....the only one i used was win MX before it got shut down too

i Use Limewire and i've never had a problem. It works really fast on my computer. i dont ever want to lose it

I used to use WinMX as well. It was a good program.

Screw limewire, just use torrents. I use azureus which is perfectly fine for me.

And that's exactly why I rarely use P2P. Torrents are the way to go.

P2P can also be very misleading too. Sometimes I would search for a song, find it, and it would only be half of it. It's just kind of rediculous.

I don't like P2P, because when you search for videos you get all porn, and then maybe something loosely related to what you were looking for.

I dont see why they always attack these types of things. Don't they realize by now, that for every one they "destroy", two more will take it's place?

P2P is frustrating sometimes, because you never know what you're going to get. Like when i search for vids sometimes and it comes back with the title of what i'm looking for but after i open it, it's an advert for porn. Or if it's music, sometimes its messed up, sounds funny, or just plain doesnt work.
