I was surprised at how much they developed Rain in MK:A. His special moves were really cool. I think he should keep some of the water-based attacks along with the roundhouse, but drop the lightning bolt. Let Nightwolf have that one, it fits him better. I'm also liking the direction they were going with his costume. He shouldn't be too ninja-esque as he's a prince. As far as I'm concerned, they can only improve on Rain. He's almost like a blank slate.
Hey guys let's stay on topic please. Also no one's mentioned gameplay yet? And if you don't want him included, please provide reasons why. Let's try for a good thread
He was not in deception at all bro, he wasnt in any game past UMK3 for consoles until Armageddon came out.
He was in MKT, which came out after UMK3.
If they can make play well, go for it. I don't see him being one of the original 26, tho.
I dont consider MKT canon though for some reason, i just think of it as a compilation game... You can say that about armageddon, but at least there was a story behind it.
But yeah i agree, hes one of those characters i wouldnt care for him being in the game or not. Cool, hes a ninja at all, but IMO, hes too damn wimpy and whiney.
Enh. You were talking about him being playable in Deception and then switched to the storyline stuff. I don't pay much attention to the story, so I focused on the playable part.
Sooo.... nevermind.
IMO, I think they brought the classic look back already with his alternate costume in armageddon.
Personally, while I thought his MK:A design was clever, I felt it was too far removed from the simple palette swap. I mean look what they've done to make the other ninjas unique, and still mostly retain their classic look. Like I already said, a well thought out hybrid works best for me. As for moves, I think he's definitely got what it takes for great gameplay. I feel MK:A kind of poisoned his popularity due to being an overall clunky game, reflecting badly on a character with a lot of potential. I like that he's an elemental ninja as well, and has an interesting backstory that could be improved in this iteration to make for a stronger personality. Back to gameplay, I particularly loved his 'waterball' move that allowed total control of your opponent while they're immobilized in mid air. He was the only character able to do this, and just one of many things that MK9 could make really special. But of course, feel free to disagree.
