Kreate-A-Fatality Looking a little.... ghey?

Okay, this is assuming we've watched the IGN Armageddon Interview Trailer.

When they talk about Create A Fatality, they show various video clips of a few of these sequences.

Personally, it looked a little disappointing. I hope this is still under construction, as it is only March, but I think it's a pretty stupid idea. Instead of doing your own fatality, I thought it would have been really cool to have almost choices throughout the movie-like fatality (Choose your Own Ending Goosebumps anyone?).

Just useless and random heart rips and skull rips kind of make me scratch my head. I liked fatalities for their FMV-feel. I liked quickly smuggling chips into my mouth as I watched Scorpion pulling his harpoon from his opponents head.

Does anyone else share this feeling with me, or am I just not "hip"?

You're just not hip >_> <_<. LMAO. J/K Prophet.

I see what you mean but it is just a demo they had to show something although I don't mind pulling various stunts/etc. On the opponetn plus some fatalities I only dreamed of may now be able to happen.

I don't know, I sort of share your feeling, but at the same time, not really. I'm looking forward to this feature quite a bit, but I'm disappointed that they've decided not to have regular fatalities in there with it. Originally it seemed like they were going to have both, so I was totally cool with that, but I think it sucks that they've decided to scrap that.

At any rate, I don't think it's completely fair to judge the system by that demonstration. It is still early in development, so I'm sure they've got tons of stuff to add. I don't remember if there was a specific number given, but I thought I remembered hearing that the number of options per character would be HUGE, so I really can't wait to see all that we can do.

I think the reason they were showing off somewhat random mini-fatalities, though, is because they were using a generic character that we know nothing about. They probably just used that guy to show the kinds of things you could do with the feature without getting too specific. They've said that each character will have specific moves that only he/she can perform, anyway.

I think untill the game is released they will only show breaking bones, ripping body parts out, etc. The basics. I think they will add better things for the final.

For what it's worth I agree with you. I've always been a big fan of FMV style sequences for fatalities. I disliked many of the fatalities in MK3 because they felt "rushed". MK:D and especially MK:DA fatalities were drawn out and brutal, more like MKII fatalities. If the interview is anything to base my views on, then the new fatality system will most definitely be below par imho.

I kinda share your feeling. I'm mean I know what you mean I agree. However, since there is Kreate-a-kharacter or w/e they call it, it gives us at least something to do with making our own unique fatalities for them, even though I'm sure many will make the same fatalities, but you know what I mean. Still, I am iffy about this new fatality thing.

Considering I only just recently started using fatalities myself, yeah the tradionatl fatalities are a lot better. But Boon, as I recall from somewhere said they would still be in there... Its just you now have a choice between that and the custom fatality.

I'm loving this idea, cos I felt tired of watching the same fatals over and over, and the thing turned worse when I liked a character, but hated their fatalities. As long as there are tones of different moves to choose from, this thing will be great.
In the other hand, they had better make this thing right, I mean, I don't wanna see people ripping hearts out without leaving marks anymore!! :x

If the options for making your own fatality will be greatly expanded upon from what was seen in the presentation video (and I'm sure it'll be), then I'm sure it'll be a blast and I'll be using it more than the FMV fatalities. The FMV fatalities, for me, are fun to watch after about two or three times, then I don't bother with them anymore after that. Also, some of the button combos for the fatalites in previous MK titles were damn near impossible to do and the fun, for me, turns into frustration. I'd like it better if the FMV fatalities could be like what I saw and played in MK:T for the PC where all you had to do was press a button (after executing a cheat before gameplay in the menu or messing with and modifying the command line paramaters in the shortcut, I believe) to perform a fatality, friendship, animality, etc. so I wouldn't have to spend hours trying to do a button combo for a fatality that, end the end, I won't like and/or will be disappointed in watching and I can just stick to using and watching the ones I liked.

Just my $0.02 on the subject.

EDIT/CORRECTION: Actually, the fatalities are much easier to perform in MK: DA and MK: D, than in previous MK titles that I played, so as long as nothing changes regarding the input codes for fatalities in that regard (meaning in MK:A, the button input for FMV fatalities remains the same as in MK: DA, and MK: D), it'll keep me happy. Still, though, I'm really hoping the KAF option in MK:A will be more varied than what was seen in the presentation video.

I am in agreement with you, Proph. I really don't like the idea. So far, from what I"ve seen (which is the same as y'all ;)) this doesn't look to good. And in all honesty, if we can't see a toasty from Scorpion, or we do see it but with every character, this idea will blow. Though this is only a beta thing, and the character doing them is the new one they're still developing, there's still hope. I agree with you for the minute, Prophet, but I'll wait until I play the game to make my decision ;)

I'm thinking the whole create a fatality feature is do to memory restrictions or to free up space. If there are 60 kombatants, with 2 fatalities each.... thats a lot of information. not to mention all the special moves, kombos, fighting styles, etc etc. sounds like its going to be one big generic fatality list that everyone can use. uppercut the head off, rip out the heart..... hope i'm wrong. character specific fatalities are a must.

I'm sure theyw ill have atleast 2 character-specific moves. They will have the generic ones like ripping the head off, ripping thier torso off, etc.

im sure the "ripping" will go around plenty with us. I know it will with me!!! I just cant WAIT to make a Lin Keui follower of SubZero. then i will totally PWN the Lin Keui offenders. FROSTY!
