Killer Instinct announced for XBOX ONE!!!!!

ill leave this here

back at e3 devs stated they feel no mercy finishers arent necessary and they will ** patch it in** if fans demand it

quoted

No Mercy’s and Ultimate Combo’s are currently not planned for the game as the developers believe “they aren’t necessary”. This can change, however, if the fan community pushes for them to be included. This would mostly likely happen as patch later on, however.

Watching that video now. Hopefully it will give me a boner again. Because after this video, my hype went down a ton. UNLESS the season 2 and story mode are free. This whole thing seems like a bunch of bullshit at the moment. This game is obviously being rushed and it seems like they are going to milk the DLC shaft.

When I heard Killer Instinct was making a long over-due return, I nearly soiled myself from excitement! I played the KI games in the arcade (along with MK, of course) and enjoyed them immensely.

My excitement quickly dissipated once I saw videos of the reboot. I haven't played it, obviously, but it just seems like a rushed, cash-cow to promote the XBO, game. It simply looks like a reskinned version of SF4 at least graphically and to an extent, gameplay.

Naturally, Microsoft is involved, which if recent history is any indication, can never be a good thing. After Windows 8, Surface, Windows Phone, the botched-yet-quickly-revised-plans on how XBO was going to be launched, I really should have not expected much with KI and sadly, I don't.

I wanted to believe, hold fast to hope that KI would be returned to glory with the love, the respect, and attention to detail that it rightfully deserves and be part of the KI history I knew and loved years ago.

This is where NRS excels. The MK reboot was arguably the best MK game ever. You could see the love and respect NRS has for MK, as well as the fanbase, and they proudly put it all on display in MK9. After 20 years of following the franchise, MK9 quite possibly will always be the best game to me.

Hell, even Injustice, despite all its glaring flaws, was shown the same level of respect by NRS for the DC universe/lore. The in-game graphics, the audio, the assortment of content, all the little details in how characters move, etc shows that NRS, like with MK, respects their work and has pride in their projects.

I'm not getting that feeling from DH and KI. What I am getting is a sense of contrived overcompensation with a heavy dose of "get this thing out asap and milk, milk, milk it for all we can; then some and a little bit more" all while riding the coattails of SF.

They still have not revealed much in way of the character roster and here it is pretty much September; game launches in November. The new female character looks like a cross between Ermac, Scorpion, and Raven with a gloss of Spiderman-inspired moves. I'm also not overly excited about how Jago, Saberwulf, Glacius, and Thunder look. I'm worried as to how Orchid, the one character I think everyone is waiting to see (Fulgore probably a close second), will look and play.

Unlike MK and Injustice, I am stepping back and waiting to see what actually becomes of KI at launch and post-launch, which I fear is not going to be a whole lot.

I hope I am wrong. KI deserves much better.

I'm not getting the XBone just for this game, but it does look WAYYYY more fun than Injustice. Honestly, I'd rather play this game with only 6 characters than Injustice.

I liked how they paid attention to the feedbacks from the fighting game community.

They've added the ''danger'' warning at the end of the life bar, classic announcer is now available, you can also hear the classic themes playing when the characters stand idle. They take fan feedbacks into consideration before making changes to the gameplay. The majority of people who played this game said they had a blast, it's not like they owed Double Helix anything to lie.

Yes they do take fan feedback. But I feel like there are two forms of fan feedback. There is the kind where developers actually give a shit about what people think. On the other hand, there are developers who only take in fan feedback so they can boost their sales.

It seems like they are milking the cash cow to an extreme with this one. A lot of people will buy a character or two, THEN probably buy the full game. It's quite genius actually. Treating even the characters that should be in on launch as DLC characters. This game should have 15+ characters on launch, story mode, and all of that jazz. People are saying "it's only $20" but that's because it's only a third of what it should be. The argument that it's $20 and you basically get a sample of what the game will be and you can play it is so weak. If they released a fully fleshed-out game, I could rent it for $7 to get a sample and be able to play the full game.

I agree that it looks like Street Fighter. That was my first impression. The gameplay is it's own beast though.

I'll keep an eye on this game. I'm not getting an XBO on launch anyways, so I'm not bothered by it too much. I learned my lesson with the 360 launch. I'll wait to see how the XBO and KI end up doing.

The story mode is included in the initial price, so once its actually done you will end up with like 24 characters with story mode (and the other modes like training) for 60$. Were just not getting it all at once :/

I was hoping it would be like that. If it's true, then it's fine. I still think they should have released the game all at once though.

im sorry but i dont buy that. would you say the same if mk didnt have any fatalities? cmon now dude

How could fatalities be knock offs of fatalities?
I'm in a very small group, but I wouldn't care if MK got rid of fatalities. As long as I get the delicious story and fun gameplay I'm good to go.

Fatalities is what made MK what it is today. A MK game without fatalities just isn't MK.

But am I the only one that thinks Thunder looks way too top-heavy? His legs look way too small compared to his upper body. I realize that this game has a bit of an exaggerated art style, but it still doesn't look right. It just looks so weird how he's so thick then it's just legs.

Chief Thunder:

Jago. Exaggerated proportions, but still looks good:

Down the road I may consider getting an Xbox One when it gets two hundred dollars cheaper. Which by then KI would already be "finished" so to speak.

So it all works out in the end, but we'll see how the future holds.

Same here. I'm actually tired of getting things day 1 because there are always so many problems with everything. Patches upon patches upon updates and all kinds of crap. People never release things when they are ready.

Nice quote in your sig though. But actually there are no Ninjas in MK.

Too many publishers try to get their game out the door as fast as possible instead of trying to iron them out before release. In previous generations, once a game is printed, the bugs are there forever. Now online play is a standard for consoles, publishers are less motivated to make sure their game works right out of the box.

Anyways, I don't like the fact that they are essentially trying to sell a game that is a work in progress. Paying for content that will come in the future doesn't sit well with me.

I have to agree this has the name killer instinct but it doesent have the feel of ki. granted i havent played it but im not impressed at all. it reminds me more of sf than ki. i hope im wrong im a huge fan and kept my snes hooked up over the years just to play it. i still wont be getting an xbox one for awhile im fine with my 360.

I see no reason to get an XBO on launch. It has much better specs than the 360, but honestly I'm not really too impressed and it doesn't feel like a next-gen console in comparison. Seeing 360 games for the first time was an amazing experience. Honestly all of the things I've seen in games so far can be done on 360 as well. The only game that has me super excited is Destiny. Which will be coming to 360 also.
