Kabal's damage scaling after his dash move.

Ok, lemme preface this by saying I LOVE MK9 (it's brilliant, imho) and I am in no way complaining about this because it makes my Kabal uneffective. I am VERY good with Kabal (and other characters as well) as is and don't think this needs to change. However, Kabal received BY FAR the worst amount of damage scaling in the ENTIRE game after you use his dash.

I know this was great for balancing issues and to nerf Kabal from his MK3 Godlike tier status from spamming but my only problem is this. Scorpion and Sub-Zero (two characters I am also VERY good with and love to play) both have great moves that stun the opponent allowing for free opportunities for massive combos and their damage scaling isn't even remotely severe. On top of that, they already did a great job of nerfing Kabal's dash move by giving it these properties.

1) You can't do more than 1 dash in a combo. The second you try will only count as a hit and will not allow follow-ups (same goes for Scorp's harpoon and Sub's freezes).

2) It's absolutely THE most punishable move in the game. If you block Kabal's dash in THIS game. He is literally stunned for almost 2 or 3 full seconds. If you can't punish him heavily after that: PUT. DOWN. THE. CONTROLLER...haha

There are other ways too but I'm not giving up all one of the favs weakness lol (btw, I am good with like 10 characters in this game).

This nerf is just perculiar because they took all the cautionary steps before this neft to make Kabal impossible to spam. I'm ALL for damage scaling. And it's a MUST have in ANY serious fighting game. But if they were gonna nerf his damage scaling by nearly 50% then they should have done the same for Scorp and Sub. Just my opinion.
 
I think it's the fact that it's much faster and much more spammable compared to the harpoon and freeze.

I pointed out how it's clearly NOT spammable in this game though.

PS. Scorpion's harpoon is by far the easiest move to land in the ENTIRE game (it's even an effective anti-air in a lot of instanes). And it's virtually unpuninshable on block.
 
Yes, I read your drawn-out post, and no where does it state that it isn't spammable.

Regardless, the dash is more of an instant move compared to the harpoon and freeze which are easier to see coming, especially the freeze. I suppose that is their reason for adding the damage reduction.
 
LOL...you're an idiot. Clearly, I stated you CAN'T use his dash more that once in a combo AND it's the most punishable game on block (HIGH RISK MOVE...which should grant high rewards). In SERIOUS fighting game circles this constitutes true spamming (being able to abuse the move as a reset in combos). If you let someone do a dash. Uppercut you. Do a dash. Uppercut you. Then that's not spamming. That's YOU sucking at defense...haha

Does posting your definition of spamming change the fact that my post was correct as far as the fact that it is faster than either the harpoon or freeze, which is why there is more of a damage reduction?

LOL...they gave it proper balancing for being so fast in regards to harpoon and freeze by making it the most punishable move on block in the whole game. Meaning, if you keep throwing that move out there without properly setting it up. Any decent player with half a brain is going to counter it and you'll be dead in 3 combos. Why don't you understand Scorpion's harpoon is the best combo set up move in the game AND IT'S AN ANTI-AIR?!?!? It's a better move than Kabal's dash, infinitely less punishable, AND it has waaaay less damage scaling. You can land his harpoon and go right into XRAY that takes off only 3% less damage. Kabal's XRAY right after dash takes away 25% less damage. And 50% less damge after dash and damn good combo into XRAY.

There's actually one major combo I can do where it's 80% less damage.

Not complaining at all. I heavily play Scorpion (and I am a damn good Scorp player just ask people on this site who I've played and beaten) but I have been consistenly hammering people with Kabal for a week now. I'm good with 10 characters (I have no true allegience in this game because there are so many bad ass chracters imho). What I am saying is that if you're going to nerf Kabal's damage scaling so bad, then you HAVE to do the same for Scorpion and Sub Zero (dunno if you noticed, but in the right hands Sub Zero is GOD haha). Because Scorp's stun move is waaaay better than Kabal's and has better properties.

Seems that way.

I don't know what the point of this thread is, to speculate as to why it is scaled this way or to just post "Yeah, I agree!"

I find the spear and freeze both slower and easier to jump over, and more of an animation sequence before they actually initiate. Yes, blockable and punishable, but also its 'instant cast' makes it easier to use at a critical moment. Whether or not you agree, that's my take on it, I don't know what kind of answer you're looking for.
