Is it still scrubby to use Kung Lao?

Kung Lao is my favorite character out of all of the males, and partly the reason why I bought the game. But since everyone says he is OP I feel that using him is like commiting a crime.. If I at least try him online will that still make me a scrub?

Scrubby describes the way a person plays, not the choice of characters. That being said, there will always be sore losers who will find any excuse for their losses. If it's not Kung Lao, it's Noob Saibot, Scorpion, or even Liu Kang.

It was only scrubby if you played him the way that people saw as scrubby and OP

Everyone has really gotten over the whole KL thing IMO

why are you letting others dictate who you'll use? you are you, your favourite is kung lao so use him and stop caring about what others will say. scorpion is overused too but it's stupid to think of yourself as a scrub if you use him. he's a great character that has tons of fans and even the most unrelated to mk know and love scorpion for his design, story, voice, the line of get over here and so on. this is a game and each person should enjoy it as they want and can. with that logic, you could also go like 'hey, is it scrubby if I still listen to Nirvana? modern society demands that we listen to talentless pricks like justin bieber or rebecca black'. wtf is this? get Kung Lao , get in there and kick some ass

If you play him well, it's not scrubby. Period. If you love the character then use them, have fun. I get people on my ass for any number of things. "Dude, you corner spam..." or "All you do is freeze!" or "God! Stop throwing!", they lost and they're making excuses for it. I played well and had a good time doing it. That's what counts. Honestly, OP or not, if NRS released Kung Lao's MKII costume I would be all over him. Nuts to those that would whine about it lol.

Universal words of advice:

Don't give one good shit about what anyone thinks.

That said, just play the game to your liking. Who cares if people don't like him or call him "scrub?" That's like asking people if it's "scrub" to listen to Mozart or Beethoven. Do you know what I am saying? :-)

Its scrubby to complain about Kung Lao.

He has been bent over the pinball machine and nerfed.
They nerfed him and nerfed him and nerfed him, all night long.

If you can't punish his spin now, try other moves than uppercuts

This thread should be a wake-up call to everyone who ever complains about someone being a 'scrub'. Kung Lao is a bada$$ that has awesome potential but because some are sore losers or cheap spammers he is almost outlawed. I say play who you want to play. In the end, no matter what, you always had an equal chance in winning. If you let yourself fall for the same set of moves everytime then you better just learn to adapt to your opponent. Not whine and make excuses like the others before have stated.

But since everyone says he is OP I feel that using him is like commiting a crime.. If I at least try him online will that still make me a scrub?

Kung Lao isn't overpowered, anyone who says otherwise is a scrub. The only thing that would make you a scrub online is if you use infinites, block infinites, or glitches. **** the haters.

I don't care what anyone says, Kung Lao is overpowered. He has no bad matchups, great mixup game, hard to punish specials, a tool for every situation, and so on.

Whether or not you using him makes you scrubby depends. If he's your main or one of your couple mains that you use because you like him as a character, then I'm perfectly fine with that. But if you just got your ass handed to you and you try to pick a character as a trump card, then that's scrubby.

Glitches and even some infinites are not necessarily game-breaking.

I don't come to this site very much, i usually go to MKU or TYM, never knew how many scrubs there were here..

No disrespect but you might be a scrub. Being the best character in the game doesn't make you overpowered no matter what any kid online says.

Hey buddy, I want you go and meet hdcloudstrife08 in the future, actually how about the OP as well... He's a a headache
As Reaver said, sure he can be beaten, (I find him easy to fight) but he has no bad matchups and cruel mix-up game no one mentions. Just imagine Lao in the best players hands. But, DO NOT let others put you down for using a character you like, and if its Kung Lao... as harsh as it may sound, just don't expect any positive recognition for using him.

What?
I main kung lao, and i usually start with him, then i go to sz or kenshi, thenermac or raiden then liu kang, and end up at kl again for the last match.

so if i win with kl, then lose those 3 other matches, i then pick kl again and win...am a scrub?
that doesnt make sense to me.

haters will hate, hes been nerfed so many times and people still cry that hes overpowered, when the reality is, is not the character as much as the one controlling him.
every one an be deadly in the right hands, even stryker and sheva.

so people that are butthurt about losing to him need to hit the practice room and or start fighting top tier players and actually become good and not scrub players.

sorry but people hating on kl and even raiden, are scrubs in my book.

so go ahead and flame, i dont really care, sad that people still cry faul cus they cant adapt to certain characters so therefor those characters must be over powered and or broken cus i cant beat them, cus i am the authority on the issue and i have spoken. LMAO

mk u and tym are why why worse with clans and cry babies i think we may be the most layed back site in general.

because we ask what others think don't make us one bit scruby it means they don't wan't hate mail or rage quiters.

what makes lao Op is that he can do spins and flying kick's multiple time's with no recover time and that he can spin in the corner and still hit u even when u block.

he would be ok if people used him to his full potential.

i hate lao but always show respect for people that use him right just like smoke scorpion and mileena.

raiden isn't Op but he would be better if he had more options.

i fight top level players here on trmk and none of them have picked lao.

Well said. Maybe some day people will learn to adapt and better their game rather than just crying "OP!"
