if the new movie is based on DA, why did this show up?

"It seems that since the halt of Shao Kahn's invasion, stopping the merger between realms, Earth Realm's balance with the universe has been restored. But it is unclear the future of the tournament thus far. For there are many enemies still burning with hatred, possessing an unquenchable thirst for revenge. And since Kahn's invasion was not prophesized by the Elder Gods, the future of the tournament is unclear. For now our planet remains a precious gateway between realms, inhabited not by gods or sorcerers, but only by humans. Will Earth Realm be challenged again, or taken? And by whom? Sorcerers, corrupt ninja clans, or powerful being from a distant realm? One thing is certain, now that Rayden is an Elder God, it is up to me to watch over Earth Realm and lead our fighters against whomever they may face, in Mortal Kombat. Fujin - God of Wind, Protector of Earth Realm"

If I remember right, that would be right after MK4, when Raiden ascended, and Fujin took over. Then again, that's just me guessing, and, it's been a couple years since I've played MK4.

Yeah, and like they also said over at the MK3 movie page, no one knows just how long that page has actually been there. Also, nothing's been set in stone as to which game(s) this movie is going to be based around, so until we get something official, it's all just speculation. For all we know it could be based around MK: Special Forces (how much would that suck?).

Its not really that intereasting. But at one point several MK site though this bit of text was really worth sticking on their own site. The result was I found several dam sites with this same text on.

the movie should be based off of a mix of MK4 and MKDA and finish right when MKD starts so that MK4 the movie can be about MKD.......That might make MK3 the movie a 3 hour plus long movie but who cares.....

Ah man, a three hour+ MK movie would kick ass!

Seriously...that way, they would have time for EVERYTHING that needs to be there, and not cut out parts that are essential to the storyline.

Probably because all 3 hour movies suck. But anyway, being that MK is so action-oriented, I don't think you could do a 3 hour movie without having it drag ass immensely, and I'm sure it would alienate any casual MK fans.

Well fuck, I'm all for insane brutality, but 3 hours would still be too long for an MK movie.

Well at least they'd have time to plan things out... And hopefully not suffer another MK:A prob where they did too much in 1 small movie.

I wish the movie makers would stop half assing it, and show MORE MORE BLOOD!Give us some REAL fatalities, people! The worst I've seen was Cyrax's Acid Net! Give us gore like on horror flicks, (such as Freddy Vs. Jason!) I don't care if it's rated R or not! If you were old enough to see the first one in theatres, you'll be old enough to see the R one.!

!@#$ them. I want something that's so brutal that its verging on being illegal :D

3 hours of bone crushing action!? I am up for it... Most good movies are long anyways...

Well, think about this, how good are video game movies, anyways? Remeber Super Mario Brothers? And the -lie- about Legend of Zelda? Even though it was a fake trailer, it still looked bad, And Mortal Kombat would be possibly the worst movie, ever, Simply because they have so many characters, now. They usually only focus on Liu Kang's story, as such, in the first movie, they made Scorpion and Sub-zero allies. So you see? Its just not a good thing to make a movie when there is not a set main character.

You Know what.... That is absolutely true. But that doesn't mean they have to center it around Kang because he is the Earthrealm champion. There are other good guys in the MK universe. So it could be different every time. Another thing that makes it hard to make a movie is that you can never tell when a character is really dead or not. Characters are resurrected all the time. You always have to wait till the next game to confirm a player's storyline.

But doing a movies with the main character always changing and the timeframe is always the same. IE: Main character Raiden movie is about Raiden Story with other kombatants present and then the sequel will be about Kitana and her storyline, takes place at the same time. You can combine this method in to one movie but it may be disasterous. If you choose the wrong director this idea can go to $hit pretty quickly. Especially if the bastard wants to take the MK series in a different direction. I would like them to get the story right first before they start going off in different directions.
