I hope they don't bring back more irrelevant characters from the dead. Gameplay-wise and in an EVO (fighting game POV in general) mindset they might be fun, but story-wise they might not be so fulfilling. I'd rather have some more new blood or a different revamped character.
But, if we do end up getting unexpected dead characters back like Kung Lao, then I'm interested in what NRS has done with their movesets. And hopefully they become more prevalent to the story.
Don't misunderstand lol I'm not trying to crap on anybody's faves
Edit: I get that Mortal Kombat has always had themes of "a character never really dies," but when the company puts such big emphasis on a death scene or how a character dead would cripple some type of story fulfillment, especially in the last game, I don't see how they want us to interpret the story. Should we be worried x character died? Or should we not because "a character never really dies."
But, then again, fighting games have never had a strong story narrative. So, as fans, in general, a fighting game would not be the best place to look for a thought-provoking plot.
