Great Blizzard of 2011

Got 30 more centimeters here, on top of the 15 or so we already had.....man, is this garbage ever annoying.....

Down here in Waci, TX, it is freezing nuts kold. Some water turned into ice. Power has been on and off in a lot of parts in Waco. It is be the lowest temp. Waco has ever had. Its like 22 degrees outside! It is freaking kold! I hope we have no school tho:).

Had a snow day here in Toronto, Ontario. 20-30 cm (12 inches) of snow. Schools and most universities were shut down. Had to shovel the snow 4 times throughout the course of the day :(

Buffalo, a little over 14" total. It was crazy, everything was closed yesterday! I feel for those in Chi-town who was stranded. That was crazy!

Here's a video of the snow taking over my patio during the storm.

Here you can see my whole street get covered in snow:

Wow Pat, that's pretty amazing. Here at NIU, we all just watched the snow drift up along the sides of the dorms.

Douglas Hall here. They're renovating Grant right now, and I think you left before they started renovating Stevenson. It's so nice and has the best food on campus. Well....best "dorm" food on campus.

All we're getting in Metter, GA is rain. Everyone here freaked out over the ice we got a while back. Which wasn't much, just enough to close schools due to half the kids living on dirt roads.

No I lived there the first two years after they renovated it. It was quite nice but lots of odd problems they fixed now. I do miss their terrible yet good dorm food though.

Yeah, overpriced now though.

As for school, well we had classes cancelled yesterday and today, while they will be held tomorrow. And here I was think we'd get a 5 day weekend. But then again, all the roads and sidewalks are cleared, so they have reason to start classes back up again.

And now, time for global warming to get going and melt this snow!

Yayy!!!!!!!! No school for me!!!
Its snowing outisde too:DDDD.
I had fun playing in the snow till my fingers got numb"/

It's 17 degrees right now in Houston (thats -8 Celsius for you Canadians). Laugh at me if you want, Northerners, but down here that's legendary cold. I even saw a negative wind chill reading for the first time ever.

Yeah my fam told me how cold it is in your area. I will be relocating there this month. Luckily I am in FL right now so I don't have to face those cold extremes.

-8 can feel pretty cold if the humidity is low, and the air is pretty dry in Texas generally.

As for me, I got off work about an hour after the storm started on Tuesday (2:00AM) and had to take care of some matters early on Wed so I was out during the worst parts (literally.. work is a 25 min walk from my apt). It wasn't bad but I do enjoy the cold here since the summers are smoggy and humid.

Well, it appears our predicted snow was melted mid-air by a warm layer and then re-froze on the ground. Ick. I actually like seeing snow occasionally. Now, not only did we not get any, but the roads are all frozen, as are the stairs outside my apartment. At least I didn't fall down them this time like 4 years ago. Also unlike 4 years ago, my company has since given me a company laptop to work at home if I ever need to, so now I don't even get the day off like some of my coworkers even though the office is closed. All I get out of this is a day of working from my couch.

You're moving to Houston? Cool. Luckily it's almost never this bad. More often than Florida, though, 'tis true.

The air is dry in Texas? Not here on the Gulf Coast, buddy. In summer time it's a friggin' sauna outdoors here. It was pretty dry for us on the day I was talking about, though.

Ah. I guess it boils down to getting used to low temperatures then. I'm used to them, but I've been to places where even something like -1 felt really cold because of the relative lack of humidity in the air.

On the upside, none us has got it that bad compared to NY'ers.

Yeah the worst part about our storm was the high winds and thunder and lightning we got. It was gusting up to 60mph, which really sucks when snow is falling. That creates a real Blizzard which describes visibility not the amount of snow falling. You couldn't see three feet in front of you, it was crazy!
